People seem to like this place well enough...of course, running shoes seem overpriced to many people

The only reason I'm taking off a star is because the prices are extremely high.
This place is near my apartment, so I am in here fairly regularly to purchase running sneakers after I wear out a pair. The store has a decent selection of sneakers (don't bother with the apparel - sparse and overpriced).
The true draw for me for this place is one particular salesperson. He's an older Hispanic gentleman - on the short side, and is a marathon runner. He'll take one look at you in your socks and pinpoint your arch situation (high or low), and whether or not you pronate, and then he will suggest a good pair of sneakers to match your gait.
This is a neighborhood shop, and I appreciate his knowledge, so I'll pay the price premium and continue to shop here. -

Limited inventory overall because it's a small shop, but they have a decent selection of a few brands of running sneaks, as well as socks and running clothes. If you sign up with your phone #, you'll get $50 back after you spend $500, which, after a few pairs of Asics gel nimbus, actually isn't as far off as it seems. One might think they'd inflate their prices because they're a bricks and mortar, but I just checked and the Zappos price is exactly what I paid here. Score. -

I've bought my last few pairs of sneakers from the Super Runner's Shop. Quite an extensive stock of New Balance and other normal sports brands.
The staff has always been extremely helpful as they try and answer any questions you might have. I really appreciate that. They have never made me feel rushed. If you don't like the pair of sneakers they suggested, try another until you get exactly the fit you want.
When on the Upper East Side, this is the only place I'll go to deal with my sneaker needs! -

If you live way up here on the UES and in need of good running shoes, then this is a good store to try out. A bit on the smaller side with limited inventory and apparel but they make up for it in knowledge. These guys know their stuff! Came in here recently to check out what they have as I am looking to possibly start a jogging routine to help burn off some of the weight this city has put on me! Staff offered some suggestions and even though I did not make a purchase this place is now on my list to go back to when I am ready.
Sure, you could jog down a few blocks to Modell's and get cheaper running shoes, but also have to deal with staff that is clueless and of no help whatsoever.
Also, they occasionally set up a table outside on nice days with sale items. -

Barbara was really quick and helpful. While I initially asked for one brand and style of shoes, she brought out two other different types, and I actually ended up leaving with one of her suggested pairs.
They no longer have the NYRR deal. Now, anyone can sign up where if you buy $500 worth of merchandise, you get $50 back. -

Convenient. That's about it. -

New York, NYBest shoe buying experience ever. I went in there thinking I knew what I needed... the man helping me went as far as examining my foot and making suggestions geared toward my foot type and shoes that would provide the best use for me. He was in no way pushy, instead super patient and knowledgeable about the products he was selling. What's nice too is that they will let you take a test run around the block first to be sure you're getting the right shoe! -

Brooklyn, NYGiven the many options one has in NYC to find great running stores, this place would definitely not be the one for me to frequent except it I'm trapped on the Upper East Side without hope of escape. It small with a limited selection, especially of clothes, and everything is on the high-end of pricing (makes Jack Rabbit look good, at least they give you 10 percent off it you've bought shoes with them before). You can easily find the same products online or in Sports Authority for 10-25 percent less. The staff were not very helpful or friendly, and kept trying to sell me on a pricier version of what I wanted. -

Astoria, NYI call them Running nazis with respect. They know about running and they know about shoes. I stop wasting time shopping around running shoes based on stupid review on-line. These guys will tell you what you need, and that's it. It's either thier way or long island expressway. So if you have your opinions, take it to paragons with min wage dudes with know clue. When my out of town friends ask me where they should go get thier running products, I always send them here. Oh, and they "sometimes" have sale items outside in boxes...If you have NYRRC membership you also get discount. yeehaaaa... -
