I found it difficult to get a handle on what is really going on here except one remark that made sense that " this is what you get for an Irish pub in the theater district" and another saying "OK, which is better than what you would expect given where it is"--and people agree it has a fireplace.

Manhattan, NYGood beers, good atmosphere. The place is huge, the left side usually has a lot of people, and the right side is a giant lounge. It's sometimes quiet, but it's still a good place to go. -

Manhattan, NYWe did not come here on purpose. We wanted a few drinks and walked past it, thinking an Irish Pub is always a good time. What a mistake that was!
No atmosphere, no people and playing depressing "slit your wrist" music. It was a Thursday at about 9pm. When we walked in, we literally had to look for the barman to serve us drinks. I was feeling festive and happy and was trying to ask the barman about this special shooter I knew about. He could not smile, kept cutting me off while I was asking if they has a certain type of liqueur, his face was just miserable. ALL. THE. TIME.
Just a very unpleasant experience, the drinks were cheap but I would rather pay double the price and not feel like I am inconveniencing someone when I want to spend my money with them.
HELL NO, never again. -

Boston, MAHated this place. They advertise a beautiful outdoor garden. Its disgusting. Plastic chairs, dollar store table cloths and no music. My grandmother's herb garden is 10 times better. Food was sub par. Prices are ok for the area but you really do get what you pay for. We rushed to finish our food just to get out of there! -

I have always felt that you really can't go wrong with an Irish pub. But O'Flaherty's somehow went seriously wrong....
I came here on accident really, my friends and I were supposed to go to another bar close by, but it was packed so we walked in here.
The waitress seemed overwhelmed that a group of about 10 of us came in and she honestly did not know how to handle more than two customers.
I ordered my drink several times before she actually brought it to me. And when I did get it, the beer was flat. I didnt complain, because I knew it would be an issue with her. She was so stressed out with taking our order.
After receiving disappointing service and beer, the food proved even worse.
I ordered the veggie melt, which was a roll with a few pieces of steamed broccoli covered in Kraft single slice cheddar cheese. There was no seasoning, and it tasted liked something a five year old could make. It came with fries, which were greasy, soggy and inedible. and this cost $10.
My friends ordered mozzarella sticks, which tasted like they were frozen before coming to the table and nachos, which looked and tasted disgusting.
I will never waste my money here again and I suggest you dont either! -

New York, NYTheir Burgers and Mozzarella sticks are amazing. I've never had a bad time here. It's spacious especially for NYC. The staff is extremely attentive and the prices are very fair. You can watch the game, have a beer, play pool or throw darts. I've also seen some of the supporting cast of ONCE performing here. Parking lot right across the street. It's a wonderful, down to earth place to grab a beer after work or a show.

After fighting to get his attention, in a pretty much empty bar, I asked for an Irish Car Bomb and the bar tender ( who was not Irish ) said that was offensive and I should leave the place. So I guess a Black Russian or a Kamikaze are probably out of the question. -

The food here was really bad. I split nachos and wings - pretty standard pub food. The nachos were just chips with shredded packaged cheddar cheese sprinkled on & made soggy by something that resembled canned diced tomatoes. The wings weren't saucy at all. Completely dry but sitting in oil. Even the celery and carrot that was on the side was bad.
Just a star for their happy hour deals that extend until 7pm. -

New York, NYThis place has a great happy hour. $3 champagne? Yes please! I like this place after work, especially when I'm heading to a show in the area. The food is standard bar food and veggie platter isn't the best, but I couldn't decide. (I know, who goes to a bar and orders veggies? I did. Lesson learned.) The bartender was sweet and attentive. It's just what I want in an after-work bar. Unassuming and easy. -

O'Flaherty's has served me well the many times I find myself stuck in the Theater District looking to kill some time. It seems to provide a safe-haven from the crowds and the bartenders are really nice and will take good care of you.
It's not the prettiest bar in town, but it is super cozy. There's tons of room at the bar, regular table seating, outdoor seating, area's in the back with a pool table, dart board, and even 2 fireplaces which make the place very inviting during the winter months. The bathrooms are dirty and small, but that's what you could kind of expect.
I walked in recently on a rainy Sunday afternoon and the ceiling had a steady leak.
The food isn't great, but the prices are reasonable, especially for the area. They've got your standard pub food, and some Irish plates too. I've had the chicken skewers. They were a bit skinny, served with a tasty mustardy sauce. The nachos were lacking in cheese, but there was a good amount of tomatoes and sour cream. I haven't tried anything other than appetizers on the menu, but based on what I've had, I would set my expectations pretty low for anything else.
This place is nothing to get excited over and definitely not a destination spot, but if you're in the area give O'Flaherty's a visit! -

Levittown, NYStopped in on a Saturday afternoon, only one or two other people there. But id take that any day over screaming kids. Just had a burger and fries, cheap decent food, can't complain. Perfectly poured Guinness.
If you happen to be in the area, and want some decent food at reasonable prices and a few cold ones, its perfect for that. -

Brooklyn, NYSo I have a thing for Irish pubs/Irish places...they usually serve the best booze with tasty food for a good price. This place was fun/...the hostess and waitress were excellent service....
my bf and i were disappointed there was no blue moon on tap but other than that...the mozzarella sticks with honey lager was tasty.
i had chicken pot pie my bf had the rib eye steak and both meals were filling, good priced and very tasty. The South Beach martini wasn't that good to me tasted like medicine...lol
I would definitely go back again....maybe sooner than i should

Bar smack in the theater district.
After Yum Yum we needed some beer beer, so we hit Flaherty's which was right around the corner.
Decent bar and plenty of tables which I assume also cater to the theater peeps. We on the other hand were just grooving to the rocking 80's tunes and having a few libations before heading back home.
Bartender was definitely hanging with the locals and we only saw him once - could use a little more people skills there.
Fireplaces were a nice touch on a freezing cold and windy night. and we popped over to them before heading out.
Bathrooms - really tight and I mean tight. You have to do a little maneuver once the door is open and you try to get in since the front of the toilet is about .5 inches from the door as it opens - makes for some fancy footwork.
No parking- you better be on foot for this one. -

New York, NYAs I inch closer to my goal of reviewing every bar in NYC, there is a lot to like about O'Flaherty's, a venerable watering hole in the Theater District.
This oasis from the hordes of tourists lollygagging nearby is a great place to have some scotch or a Guinness. As for the food, I'm not so sure...
One thing I like about O'Flaherty's is it has numerous places to drink -- you can hit the bar on the left side or the right side, depending on your politics. You can also chill out in the front room or back room, depending on the size of your party.
Another thing I like about O'Flaherty's is that the last time I was here some drunk chick tried to pick me up. Nasty. -

Interesting little pub.
We walked up to the door, and one of the waitresses was smoking a cigarette right up front. Totally inappropriate, but I didn't let that turn me away. The decor is great! very cozy, warm and welcoming. They have a legit fire place right when you walk in, with tables that surround it. There was also a guitarist playing the night that I visited, and he played some pretty awesome tunes!
The food was pretty bad though. I was starving so I would have eaten anything at that point, but I do remember it being bland and unappealing. I ordered the "Chicken Franchaise" with mashed potatoes. The chicken was cooked well, but it was flavorless, and the potatoes tasted like the boxed version of the real thing. There was also some sort of vegetable that accompanied my entree but I can only remember it being soggy. No attempt at presentation either, the food was just thrown on the plate with no creative thought process behind it.
We ordered a pitcher of Rolling Rock-- beer was good, glasses were warm-- : ( sad face.
It had been an extremely long day, so collectively the group decided to take it for what it was. We drank our beer in warm glasses and ate our tasteless chicken while listening to some awesome acoustics, by the fire place. After dinner, one of my friends went out and joined the waitress on her cigarette break in front of the restaurant, before we headed back to our hotel and called it a night. -

Islip, NYYou know, I'm almost afraid to review it, because what if this *gasp* becomes popular */gasp* that is loses what I loved so much about it?
If you read my reviews, you'll see I'm not a big fan of noise. O'Flaherty's allows you to have a conversation with friends without having shouting matches. The interior is cozy, and you have quite a few options to choose from - couches, restaurant seating, the bar and a garden. I believe there's also a piano bar downstairs.
I had a birthday party there on a Friday night - twelve people and no reservations. But we were seated comfortably and were able to stay for hours without getting that "get out of here already" feeling.
The food was good and the drinks were excellent, but both were a tad bit on the pricey side. Service was attentive, although the waitress has a problem with separate checks.
This would be a good place to stop for pre- or post-Broadway show drinks or chow.
Did I mention that you can hear your friends? -

New York, NYI enter this bar at my own risk, because it seems to be the black hole of debauchery.
I also have a habit of getting into trouble when I go here, so lately I've been minding my own business and reading one of romance novels that I found on the shelf in their impressive, 1960's library that surrounds the bar.
I love the vinyettes this bar has created in the space that they have--it's a little like what I imagine the Rabbit Hole to be like in Alice in Wonderland.
Pool table and darts, if you're into that.
Great for late night rebel rousing and romance reading. -

Providence, RIYup, this place is the very definition of average. But I'll tell you what, they've got a little fireplace and that's very cool.
So I got a burger, and it was pretty average. The chips were good, the gingerale was good.
Overall the decor was very cool. The walls are lined with shelves of old books, which we definitely took down and read. It's a pretty big place despite how small it looks from the front. The bar is pretty long as well and looked pretty stocked for anything you'd want.
We went in for lunch, so the bartender was also our waiter, and noone else was in the whole place. YAY FIREPLACE SEAT!
So yeah, overall pretty average food, but good if you want a nice quiet lunch......... NEXT TO THE FIRE! OH YEAH! -

Brooklyn, NYI know that three stars on Yelp can seem like a diss, but it's actually high praise for a Irish pub in midtown. So many of those joints seem like cheesey mediocre frat boy, b&t magnet, pukey, smelly, overly expensive for not much at all, filled with jaded 19 year olds from Limerick that call you "love" as substitute for "dude", guinness sloshing factories. And don't get me wrong, I've spent a lot of time in them - when you're stuck looking for a post theatre place to eat in mid-town, it's either Ollies, Chipolte, diners, fancy places, or the aforementioned faux Gallway stout slingers.
This place is pretty sweet though. Lots of nooks and crannies, so you and your party of 4 -12 can feel sequestered but not suffocated. Super efficient staff. Totally serviceable food. It doesn't suck. At all.
I'll always miss McHales - and while this doesn't measure up to McHales (what would though) - O'Flaherty's has knocked off Bull Moose as the midtown pub that I least mind getting a late night burger, guinness, and frazzled perfunctory "love".
Don't tell Williamsburgh, but maybe, I even like this place a bit. -

I had no faith in midtown until I came here.
I know this reviews lacks substance. You will need to trust me or/and find out for yourself.

York, PAI give it a 4-star for ambience, bartenders and drink prices. Do not go for the food. The best you can hope for is a serviceable plate of nachos or mozz sticks when you're too juiced to know better.
I love the huge bar, the fireplace, the library, the courtyard. The one thing they could really use is a TV renovation. Last time I was there the tv's were still as horrible as they've ever been. Oh, and the downstairs bathrooms are kind of scary (if they're even still open). Wait in line for the upstairs restrooms!
I've been a customer for over 20-years & I go back everytime I'm in midtown.
