Men's Wearhouse- Third Avenue Midtown

For people who have seen TV ads for Men's Wearhouse in NYC, this guy is familiar as spokesman and presumed owner...

Has catch phrase " You're going to like the way you look."

I checked out all the MW locations and found the best one was at 730 Third Avenue in Midtown (except for one person in particular as you will see)

Weird how different locations can have such different reviews.

I consulted Yelp before I set out for a spree. I'm one of these guys who likes do it all at once because I hate shopping. I've had good experiences at Men's Wearhouse many times in the past, including here in NYC. But I've only just moved back after 10 years away, so my knowledge of what the stores were like was out of date. When I saw all the bad reviews for most of the stores in NYC, I was worried. But I just want to confirm that I concur with the positive reviews for THIS PARTICULAR STORE.

The guys in the store were very kind and respectful. They took there time. I was there for over two hours and even closed the store. Athanas Misaikos was my primary wardrobe consultant. (Didn't catch his name, but that's the name on the card he handed me.) He was especially sensitive to my needs as a bigger guy. He made tons of suggestions that were terrific and didn't oversell when there was something I wasn't crazy about. I probably ended up buy 80% of what he showed me.

I would and will definitely go back. And, if you're like me, worried about the reception you'll get at a store. You can put your mind at ease and head for 730 3rd Ave.

I would not recommend Men's Warehouse, at least this location.  I'm getting married on Friday (09/13/13) , Needed 4 suits for the groomsmen. We walked in during the buy one get one for 100 deal going on recently.

First impression walking in, there is no way you can look at suits on your own, you walk in and there is a literal gang of people waiting for you to step into the door so they can wallet rape you. An older gentleman stepped up to the challenge.

He greeted us and then took us to the section with 999.00 suits... I was not pleased.
He showed us a few suits, each time I said " we don't really want to spend 900+ dollars a suit they're only wearing once" , and he would reply " but it's buy one get none for 100, it's a great investment". Dude... if i told you already I don't want a suit that costs that much, even though it would be 500 X 2 , you should have asked me my budget. I understand you get commission but you cannot expect me to pay 900 a suit for you to get a nice commission, especially if I already told you 3 times that I'm not paying that much for a suit, regardless of a sale.

Finally, after the forth suit he shows us, I had to get stern and tell him that if he didn't find us another suit less than 250.00 we were leaving. Once that happened he changed his tune and found us a beautiful suit for 200, was great at that point! I was happy. But only after having to repeat myself several times.

Now here's another gripe, you buy a suit that is meant to be hemmed at the legs and wrists, but then you make people pay for you to "finish" the suit? what the fuck? I don't care if a suit is $100, you finish the suit because you left it UN-finished! I don't understand that. Also when I brought this up to another sales person, he said " if you ever find a suit that is already hemmed, someone wore it already".... what? so all, ALL, the suits in macy's and bloomingdales and saks fifth... they've all been worn already? Do I look like an idiot???

So we paid for the 4 suits, I wanted a certain style so we found the perfect suit. Quality wise, it's a great suit. Wonderful.

Fast forward to picking them up. What the fuck--- They had the tags on the suits, but none were marked correctly.... Annnnnndddd - drumroll please- the "tailoring" that they did for each individual person, so they fit absolutely right.... was the same. We got 2 suits at 42 long and 2 suits at 40.... the two suits at 40, were the same exact suit... tailored and all. there was no difference. the two 42 long, one inspired this review, was shorter than the butt area!!! and the other one is mid butt, where it was supposed to be.

how does two suits at 42 long come out to be different in length?! they obviously tried it on before buying them, so they knew the length was good. but what the hell!

And now 5 days before the wedding, we're scrambling to get the suit fixed. Ok, ok, we had time to try it on but my brother in law didn't think there was anything wrong. I get it, our fault in a way for waiting 5 days from the wedding to try it on, but still, this suit jacket... what happened!!

worst service ever. EVER. will never return, except to fix this one suit.
And I weep, I weep for I already was stressed about this wedding. UGH....

This review is a two-fer. We walked about 15 blocks in the rain to this Men's Wearhouse after having a shockingly bad customer service experience with the tux rental staff at the 34th street location of this chain and we were so relieved to meet Gio and Candace (sp?).

The difference was night and day. At 34th Street, the girl helped us so begrudgingly, gave us short answers to any questions we had, argued with the groom about whether the tux style he wanted to try was "modern" or "romantic" on the website (the groom was correct). He was there with me (the bride), and three of his best friends who are all in the wedding party and we had made it clear from the beginning that we were there to get measured and choose a tux for the wedding. After about 15 minutes of her shockingly disinterested customer service all of us were desperately looking for other options.

Fast forward to the 3rd Ave store. It was immediately a better experience, the staff were friendly, started by congratulating us on the upcoming nuptials (such a small and obvious thing to do, but it didn't happen with the other girl!), and asked all the right questions. Gio helped us narrow down a style and Candace got right on the measurements. Gio was fantastic at making suggestions and helping us get all the details right, from which vest and pocket squares would look best, to how to differentiate different key players in the bridal party.  We came away from the experience with our tuxedo rentals all settled and paid for and more importantly with our faith in humanity restored. Thank you 3rd Avenue store! May all the other branches in the city learn from you!

I went to the store intending to buy a pair of dress slacks for about $50; I walked out with $700+ worth of slacks, shoes, sport coats. Which points out that it can be a high pressure environment. However, I was very pleased with the look, quality, and fit of everything I got. Plus I got a $50 gift certificate .

For those like me who shopped at Syms, Wearhouse is a very good place to take your business.

I am generally an uncomfortable and awkward person.

The folks here made things generally less uncomfortable and awkward while measuring parts of my body.

Great service. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and accomodating.  Had to exchange a couple gifts for different sizes, and had no hassle whatsoever.  High, Manhattan prices, however.  If you gotta shop in midtown Manhattan, this is a good place to check out.

My best friend's show opened on Broadway on 4/14/13. In all the hubbub and excitement somehow he completely forgot to reserve a tuxedo for his black tie opening night! After calling every tuxedo rental store in Manhattan, I called the Men's Warehouse in midtown and learned they could do same day tuxedo sales (even on Sunday!!!!). That would have to be good enough! We worked in the store with Rubi Garcia and manager Elsherif Elsherif, who were both incredibly helpful, accommodating and kind with our crazy last minute full tuxedo needs! Rubi was thorough and fast and made sure my friend had everything he needed for his big opening night. He looked amazing, and incredibly thanks to the quick service of the employees and tailors, was able to have his tux complete in less than 5 hours! What service!!!!! I have never had such amazing service at any clothing retailer, or any other store in Manhattan for that matter. BIG Thank you to Rubi and Elsherif--- I am very thankful and will def use Men's Warehouse again in the future!
