Ooh, Mixed reviews! Real sour apples here.

This is interesting--looks like as of fairly recently this place was undergoing renovations and maybe some other kinds of internal changes.

This hotel appears to bring mixed reviews. It served its purpose when I was there. At around $200 a night for two beds, it was one of the cheapest hotels in this part of New York. The location was about a 10-15 minute walk to Times Square and not too frightening. The room I stayed in was recently renovated, so it was fresh and clean. It was not a five star hotel or roomy, but most in NYC are not. The bathroom was also small, but did its job.

Tip: The directions I got from some map sites put me a block or two away, so be careful when getting there.

I like this hotel... In the heart of midtown next close to the Waldorf Astoria. The only reason I don't give this hotel 5 starts is because of the size of the room. Other then that everything was great.

The hotel has a restaurant and a Starbucks attached for y'all foodies and coffee fiends. Also on the weekend they provide passes to Latin Quarters New York a great club which is also attached to the hotel. The area is great with lots of things to do. It's also within a walking distance from time square.

    Give it a try

This hotel looked real nice in the lobby and rooms; however, we were stuck in a room right next to another room under construction. The receptionist did not even mention the room that we were going to stay in was next to construction. I would've wished the receptionist tell me I may stay in that room for a cheaper rate or move to another room away from construction. We were there for 4 days and 3 out of the 4 days had construction all day.

One of the nights, I got bite by some super bug or spider. My leg is now swollen, red and sore. I wore pants while I was visiting NY so I'm assuming it's from the hotel.

2 stars for having the nice lobby and room and being near Time Square.

Something the hotel may want to consider is having all the room doors have a soft close. When you walk out of the room, the doors automatically slam shut, making a loud slam. I guess everything in NY is noisy.
    • My super bug bite. :(

I grew up in NJ and I am very familiar with all of the NYC hotels.  I now live in Los Angeles and came home to NJ/NY/CT for the first time in 7 years.  I searched for weeks to find a room in NYC under $300 a night.  My first night was $239 and the second night was $269.  This hotel is in a great location.  It is convenient to all of the upper east side museums, the subway and Grand Central Station.  Check out the gourmet market at Grand Central Station!  I walked to the Whitney Museum and to MOMA.  We even walked all the way to Macy's.   The hotel has two bars and a Starbucks.  I had a standard room.  The cozy room was just too small for me.  I was able to check into my room on a Friday at 12:30, which was a pleasant surprise.  My only complaint - I had to walk down to the front desk twice because they had the phone volume turned all the way down.  I wasn't too happy either time.

We stayed here the weekend of October 11th, 2013.

    Pros: Convenience I suppose.

Cons: We checked in on Friday at 12:30pm. Understandable that room would not be ready - so we checked in with front desk and checked our bags will bell hop and went out on city. We were not told to check back in later.

Came back at 11:30 at night - and went to front desk to get our keys. THEY HAD GIVEN OUR ROOM AWAY AND THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER KING ROOM AVAILABLE. Not something you want to hear at 11:30 pm on a Friday night in NYC!!!!

After much ranting we did end up getting another king room, but had to wait an additional 45 minutes for it.

And the customer service is lousy. Manager could not even be bothered to come talk to us and apologize for giving our reserved room away.

Not a recommended hotel, and will not be staying here again. Better to pay a higher rate than have this experience.

I have two negative thoughts about this hotel that keep me from giving it a 4 or a 5. The first is that a fruit basket (the cut fruit baskets) was delivered to the hotel for me and it was left out on the counter from 1pm until we came back to the room at after midnight. I'm surprised that it did not occur to one person the staff that perhaps they should refrigerate a cut fruit basket....?

The second thing is that the toilets in this place are BY FAR the most annoying things on this earth. I travel a lot and have never had any emotion about a toilet, but these suckers stand out. First, the bathroom is quite small so counter space is very limited. this is expected of a NYC hotel, so not that big of a deal. There are 5-6 inch wide shelves above the pedestal sink and toilet where you can put your stuff. The problem is that the toilet flushes automatically every 3 seconds when the lid is down....wha? WHY does a hotel room need an automatic toilet??? And because they keep flushing, you have to leave the lid up...with no counter space and very narrow shelves over the toilet, this is a recipe for things to dive into the toilet (which happened more than once). Take these stupid toilets out and put normal toilets in! How annoying!

Other than that, the place is quite nice. The rooms are small, but I expected that. The bed was comfortable. I'd stay here again but would probably bring my own toilet.

Pros: nice decor; new upgrades; friendly staff; great location; walking distance to good shops, restaurants, theaters, etc.

Cons: CHEAP FACILITIES! really uncomfortable bed; really loud water pipes so you can hear when your neighbors shower; automatic flush toilets in your room that go off when nobody is even in there--creepy; paper thin walls so you can hear everything outside; light switch to turn on bathroom light also turns on hall light so if you need to go in the middle of the night, you have to turn on the lights and wake up your friends

Overall, it's acceptable but not at all what I would expect from a Marriott property. I would not stay here again or recommend it to friends. It's less expensive than others in the area but you get what you pay for.

I was very excited to stay here just because it's The Lexington!

Unfortunately, the hotel lost power the day I arrived so they had to book me somewhere else. They were very hospitable and got me a room at another location very quickly and within the same neighborhood.

I know they're going through serious renovation here, and I can totally see their side about how frustrating it can be to still try to run a hotel while doing this.... it's probably why I was able to get such a steal on a rate.. I mean come on people, a 3.5 star hotel in midtown Manhattan for well under $200/night... on a weekend... in June?!

Bought a Groupon deal....so had low expectations. Wow, what a surprise. The lobby is super trendy and cool, and the renovated rooms are nicely done. Super comfy beds too. Minus one star for a noisy a/c unit and a clogged sink drain.

Below is my letter to thier corporate offices about my experience:

I must say, I have NEVER had an experience with any hotel around the globe like I had the morning of Friday, February 15, 2013 at your hotel.

I was awaken by two calls from the front desk at 6:10 a.m. - the first, with only one ring; only to call back within 30 seconds. Once I answer, I was greeted by the most unprofessional and literally verbally hostile hotel personnel in my life. Truly.

I'm told that another guest "...who's paid a lot of money..." is in the hotel wishing to check in and I need to check out of my room. When I asked why I would be receiving such a call when check out isn't until 11 a.m., I was told that it wasn't and that I needed to vacate the room immediately. Of course, literally still in the bed (no shower, not dressed, etc.), 1) there was no way that was happening and 2) even if it was possible, I wasn't rushing from a room I'd paid for until checkout. The Front Desk employee then informs me that the "guest" was OK waiting two hours maximum for me to vacate the room. In utter and complete frustration, I hung up to prepare to pull my thoughts together.

One minute later, the Front Desk employee phones me back to apologize - they had the incorrect room number and guest. The call was not for me. She then proceeds to blame another employee (supposedly a relatively new employee named "David") for incorrectly identifying my room and that they were going to have him fired for this incident.

When you think a Customer Service experience couldn't get any worse. I could not believe I was hearing this. And, to add insult to injury, the person telling me this is the same highly unprofessional, rude, and hostile hotel employee that awakened me just five minutes earlier.

My career as a Consultant for a global media/advertising organization literally has me traveling weekly and in hotels more than I am in my own home. As I began this email, I have never had an experience like this in any hotel, ever! And, to boot, it cost me $997.06 to be treated that way!! As a guest! Who treats guests in that manner? And that type of treatment is proper?

Believe me, I intend to make this experience and now grievance heard by any and all that will listen - through as many mediums as possible. I'm am beyond outraged at this lack of highly unprofessionalism and treatment.

I would like someone to follow-up with me about this experience. My contact information is below - as well as my hotel receipt information (which I would have hoped there would have been some note on; but no one even mentioned it upon checking out - because, of course, there wasn't even a receipt under my door for Express Check Out.

Bought a groupon deal so I was able to stay $99 per night! The hotel room was on the smalller side, but it was immaculate....not a dust bunny or dirt ring in site! Plenty of towels and toiletries in room. Beds were very comfy.  Water pressure in shower was fantastic...even at peak times! Lobby is very nice for lounging about...The staff was very pleasant, allowed me to check in my room an hour earlier. Will definitely return!

I really liked this hotel.  Stayed for a quick overnight in NYC.  Very reasonably priced, especially last minute.  Convenient location, pleasant staff and a nice lobby. Comfortable, well appointed, clean rooms with all the features I need.  They are also a Marriott partner so you get points in that program.  I'll go back.

Please don't stay here - at least not now. This hotel is undergoing serious remodeling so rooms are toxic with paint fumes, carpets are covered in plastic, areas are cordoned off - and my personal favorite: construction noises through the night.
The morning of my check out the fire alarms went off - reception assured me it was a false alarm. I walked out into the hallway to figure out what all the noise was about, and the building was being evacuated. Remodeling + risking my safety = bad review.
One more thing: I called the next day to ensure my check out was appropriately finalized, and they still have no power in the building, yet are still checking in guests. Do yourself a favor: run.

I booked a reservation through Expedia and got a GREAT price on Christmas day.  We were supposed to get a petit room with a double bed.  Instead, they upgraded us to an executive room (still petit I believe) but with a much bigger bed (don't remember the size)... so that was surprising.  The A/C and heater worked great.  My only complaint was that the window in our bathroom was so damn hard to open.  I don't know.  Maybe I'm just weak.  But I was expected a fan or something in the bathroom so we didn't have to open it.  I enjoyed my one night here over all.

Also, it's very close to Times Square and right next to Park Avenue.  Great place to stay if you want to use the subway!

    Location: Great for Times Square
    Service: Great for NYC
    Noise: Average for NYC
    Bed: Below Average, hard, small
    Room: Good size for NYC
Bathroom: Needs updating, no vent during shower, so had to wash face and brush teeth early.

Pros: The hotel has an all-night restaurant and Starbucks located in the lobby area. Really close to 5th Avenue and Times Squares.

I booked one night to stay in this hotel. I accidentally click on my screen twice. I called the hotel immediately to cancel one.  Sandra Jack-Moore  (reservation manager) hung up on me saying she will not do anything. This is the worst service I ever received. I suggest that this hotel record the phone call.

I have two reservation number.36877295 (to keep). 36870275( need to cancel). Again, I have have one person (Dylan Steen). I just can not believe this type of service in the USA in NYC!

I'd say somewhere between 3 & 4 stars, but I'll round up because the lady at the concierge desk was so nice when I checked in. :)

The lobby is gorgeous. There's also a Starbucks, which is convenient if you're like me and down about a gallon of coffee a day. There's evidently a nightclub downstairs, so there was often a queue of drunk people holding each other up on the sidewalk outside.

The location is great! Easy to walk to Times Square, easy to find a cab, and just a short walk to the nearest subway station.

    The rooms:
We split a king-sized bed with Sleep Number technology. Except the stupid remote says R. I am sleeping on the right side of the bed. But it controls the RIGHT SIDE IF YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE BED. Who designed this thing? And really, it's not any more comfortable than a traditional mattress. There. I said it.

The room was nicely decorated, but a bit small. I don't really expect big rooms in NYC, though. The walls were pretty thin--I could hear people in the hallway and next door pretty easily. Some of the room looked pretty old & worn, especially the tiles in the bathroom, and the hardware around doors. The door to the bathroom stuck every time it closed, which ended up being a bit comical.

They do not offer free wi-fi which is annoying, and a horrible trend among a lot of hotels. Lucky for me I have unlimited data, but my friends from Canada were stuck checking their email in the lobby or at Starbucks.

Overall: good price, decent room, great location.

The Lexington NYC was my home for five nights when six friends traveled to New York two weeks ago to explore the city I missed visiting.  It was my fifth trip to the Big Apple, but my fourth time staying at this hotel which was previously known as the Radisson.

The Lex serves its purpose in providing an ideal location in Midtown East, my preferred neighborhood of choice since it's centrally located near all the spots I usually like hitting up. There's a Starbucks at the street level, also connected to the hotel's lobby.  Five stars for providing my morning kick start as I sent the boyfriend down there every morning before I started getting ready so I can get over the jet lag.

When we arrived early Thursday evening, we were quickly greeted by the front desk gal and was on our way to our room on the 8th floor shortly after that.  It was a seamless check-in, which is how it should always be anyway.

Our room was not too small, but that's typical for Manhattan hotel rooms.  Fortunately, our king size, Sleep Number bed was super comfy and helped us get a good night's sleep after hitting the ground running all day with our sightseeing filled itinerary.

I'd give five stars alone for the awesome street fair that we literally stumbled outside of the hotel that we didn't know about prior to our visit.  From what I was told, the street fair happens every Sunday until 6:00 pm.  You need to check it out for good eats and excellent deals on scarves, t-shirts and jewelry (some items we bought were way cheaper here than on Canal Street).

Overall, I'd recommend travelers to stay at The Lexington.  Their entire staff is friendly, location is perfect and their website seems to offer better room rates than the many travel sites out there.  Shopping around on-line for a decently priced room in NYC was probably our biggest challenge since prices fluctuate almost as frequently as the NYSE.  Fortunately, we got our room for under $300 bucks a night, so no complaints from me.

You get what you pay for.

Good price, great location.  Rooms are small with adequate bathrooms. Thin walls, so bring your ear plugs if you're a light sleeper and happen to have noisy neighbors. Lobby is nice and houses a Starbucks.  Front desk staff is less than helpful with any questions or requests.  Wi-fi is ridiculously priced to have access in your room so the lobby chairs are filled with people on their ipads and computers.

Would stay again for the right price.

We got a great price for the Lexington Hotel so decided to stay there for a weekend in NYC. The location was great, and the vallet parking guys were great but that was about it.

The room was TINY - we got the "petite"room but it was just a bed (uncomfortable) and a small TV on a little stand. The room also SMELLED TERRIBLE when we got there (we got used to it after a while) but ti smelled of mothballs and a funeral home, just not good. They could have had an air freshener going or something.

Also, after seeing a show on Saturday evening we wanted to go back to the hotel and grab a drink so that we could change into something more comfortable - walked all the way back to the hotel (in the snow) and got there and the bar was closed. This was around midnight which is early for New York.

Nothing overly exceptional about the staff, the breakfast place in the hotel was was overpriced. Overall I would not go back there, I would stay further away from the time square area rather than stay there again

I can't relate to the negative reviews about this place at all. Stayed here just before Christmas (Dec 20 - 23, 2011) thru a deal right from the Radisson's own site for about $119/night. Got a King-size SleepNumber bed and was even upgraded to a suite (not really necessary as I was travelling alone). Yes, the internet connection wasn't free but for that room price I can deal. Room was comfortable, quiet and clean. Really loved their bathroom products, especially the soaps.

The dealings I had with staff were all very professional, friendly and helpful. Even had Twitter conversations with whoever manages their account to discuss online deals in the (entirely safe) neighborhood for restaurants etc.  Easy cross-town walk to theater. Also has a Starbucks right in the lobby. If I could get a similar deal, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
