I don't know if it's because it's summertime, but I do really appreciate most places with a terrace.

This place carries a fine selection of refreshing German brews. Also there's a wide selection of sausages with funny German car brand names (the Volkswagen , the Mercedes, the Audi, etc etc).

My favorite picks were the Pilseners since I like light beers.

Not a bad place if you're in search of a place with sausages and beer.

I went with some Chinese friends of mine who happen to good at math and with money management and they determined that it was a better deal to order beer by the pitcher than the boot.  Also, prices are higher than what is posted on the website - I believe they told us that they raised their prices recently.  If you're not a fan of sausage or fried foods, you don't have many options here.  I initially ordered the herring, but as it turned out, it was served cold and uncooked (or pickled, who knows).  It didn't say in the menu, but I should have been more careful about picking something that I wasn't familiar with.  The staff was friendly and took it off of our bill and let me pick out another dish more to my liking.  Ended up getting the pork chops, which were a bit on the salty side, but overall good.

Everyone has a different opinion on beer, but I did enjoy the Hefeweisen.

The combo platters and the atkins platter seemed very good and were a very filling meal.

Coworkers and I came here on Friday after work. I'm unsure about this place. I didn't hate it, but I definitely didn't love it. Unless you're familiar with German food, order very carefully. I'm not so I stuck with the German fries since I knew what those were. I was disappointed with the serving size. I know we're all overfed Americans, but this was a bit too small to not be on the appetizer section of the menu.

I stuck with Hefeweizen beer since I've had and enjoy that.

Service was not great. Our 1st waitress was at the table only twice. I can only assume her shift ended because she was nowhere to be seen for the rest of the night. The 2nd waiter was better. However, I went up to him earlier in the evening and asked that my items be on a separate check since I'm on a budget and can't stand paying extra for people who order as much as they can because it will be a split check. He said ok and that he'd come back for my card. He never came back so when the bill came it was an issue with the party I was with. The exact scene I was trying to avoid.

The place seems touristy. Like I said, I'm just not sure about it.

Great food and beer. I love all their sausages- they all have fancy car names named after them you will see. The party platter (5 different sausages) for $25 is a great deal and all their other food is very solid as well.
My favorite part of the restaurant is outdoors in the back patio. You can't see it from the front and is almost hidden but it has a great casual laid-back garden feel. Will def be coming back here soon.

Went here with a good German friend. Beer on tap was ok but didn't seem very fresh. The boot is expensive but the beer gets you a nice buzz. Place is small and oddly laid out. It was fairly empty when we went. Food was mediocre an there was just something lacking from this place. It needs an intervention or it shall disappear. It has so much potential too. My friend thought that it wasn't very authentic but that's true for most "German" bars and beer gardens.

This place is satisfying ... for Midtown.  I would never come here from another part of town, but it's great for work lunches on sunny days.  They always seem to have room to seat us in the back patio.

We always get the sausage lunch combos for under $10.  However, their combinations of sausages and side dishes are fairly arbitrary and they are not OK with substitutions -- when I started coming here, they would let me order a chicken sausage combo and substitute German potato salad for the fries, but now they refuse.  Another lunch specials is only two specific sausages and you can't substitute for others, but it includes green beans and cucumber salad.  I wish I knew why.

The service here is poor to non-existent -- we frequently have to go chase down the waiter in order to get our check  -- but it's worth it to sit in the sun at lunch and drink a nice beer.

First heferveisen however u spell it came super flat.  Second one was ok after we physically went to go find the server who never really served us .  Still waiting for food way too long after we ordered.  So long I was able to use this new phone feature to write a review.  Not worth the wait.  One good thing is quiet sidewalk seating away from touristy street .

This is one of my favorite finds in Hells Kitchen.  I take my friends here when they visit and get the chef's choice sampler of meats.  We all share and then decide what little sandwich we get.  If you come early, you get the place to yourself.  Staff was great!  If you like the beer garden feel - this is your kind of place.

great beer, helpful service, and kick ass wrust.  If I lived nearby they'd know my name, so it's probably good that I don't.

I love Hallo Berlin.  I don't get here often, but when I do it's usually at an off time, catching up with a friend, with plenty of time to kill and throw back their enormous-sized mugs of cold beer.

I never stray from my standard order, and if you stick with this order, you will not be disappointed:

    - Start with a jumbo German pretzel, so you have something to soak up the beer

    - Order a shared plate of buttery Spätzle, which is served more like spaghetti than the little doughy pellets you might be used to  (they also throw in some vegetables for crunch)

    - Order a Maybach 14b.  This is a smoked andouille bratwurst w/ cheese, served on a crusty roll, and topped with german fries, sautéed onions, and mustard.

    - Chase with lots and lots of beer.  (And be ready to pee several times before you leave so you don't get stuck on the subway with a full bladder)

This is like the perfect afternoon lunch away from work.  You will love it.

(4 stars only because I haven't tried the rest of the menu)

So I don't eat German food that much. There aren't many German restaurants around here, and I just don't really make German food. This is why when my friend asked me if i wanted to go to Hallo Berlin for dinner, my answer was easy.

I like the long, narrow you-just-walked-into-the-Great-Hall-in-Hogwarts feel of this place. And the bigger tables are bench style, which I LOVE. It was cool. We ordered two pitchers of a dark beer, although I didn't order it so I don't remember exactly what it was. I tried a couple others and all seemed to be very good. For dinner I ordered the jagerschnitzel and the plate pretty big. It also came with a lentil soup. All the food was tasty, although slightly bland. Maybe this is just German food though. The waiters were very attentive and quick. All in all I liked it. I want to come back in the summer and check out the awesome looking garden they have in the back. Looks pretty cool!
