I wouldn't mind stopping off there if I ate pastry--I am cautious when it comes to that, I put on weight in my midsection too easily now at my age

New York, NYI tried two different flavors of macaroons at FP and they were delicious! They reminded me of macaroons that I tried in Paris. The price was also great - under $3 for each large size macaroon, which I think was quite a bargain :D
They weren't however extremely unique, or the best I have ever had, so I give it a four out of five. I am still on the hunt for the perfect (not too sweet and just the right texture) macaroon in the city! -

Manhattan, NYThese desserts belong in the Met. They're gorgeous, and I can sit and admire these treats for hours. So it's a always a bit of a let down when I stop by this particular location (it's a chain) with its indifferent staff, sit down, and try the whatever snack I get, and ultimately feel disappointed. Most recently, I tried the Plum Mascarpone, and don't get me wrong, it was GOOD, but I felt like it was.....missing something? Like it didn't taste greater than the sum of its parts. Now I keep coming back here when I'm in the area in the middle of the day. So that says something to consider. I get certainly get the worldly vibe here, just sitting back and enjoying my coffee and cake in a cute bakery alongside UN diplomats. Or maybe I just like the atmosphere here where I can feel like I can have the tea party that I was deprived of as a child.
Their croissants are *okay*, not flaky enough for me, but in a pinch they'll do. -

Manhattan, NYThe people are super friendly at this location and always in a great mood.
It's a nice place to stop for a coffee, but the prices are a little steep for a regular hot cup. There also is no seating inside so it's more of a to-go place than a cafe to sit and relax in!
The soups and sandwiches are pretty good for lunch though! -

The cappuccino here is tiny for a small! But the great thing is that it's strong. I went for the medium cappuccino which apparently had 2 espresso shots in it and was wide awake to continue the rest of my day. I also had the chocolate flour less cake which didn't leave much of an impression on me because it was a little too dry. But my friend had the flan and it was fluffy and not overly sweet, just purely delish!-

For me this place is really 2.5 stars, but I'll round up to 3. I think the overall 4 star rating is slightly too generous. This is just one location of a small chain... A friend and I tried several of their sweets, but nothing we had stood out and I can't even tell you what it was that we had (that's how memorable it was). However, I can tell you it wasn't disgusting, because if it were, I would've remembered that and provided some interesting commentary. Just a forgettable place. -

Edison, NJWould it kill you to smile? Walked in here super excited to pick and buy pastries for a friend's birthday and was served by a guy that looked miserable and half asleep. Made me feel like I didn't wanna bother him picking my pastries. The cashier needs to study her pastries. She took forever trying to figure out what I ordered and looking for it on the screen. I'm guessing this location doesn't get much foot traffic if you move that slow. -

Manhattan, NYAll the sweets in the world can't make Financier Patisserie employee courteous, nor friendly or inviting. I will not be returning to this bakery.
I ordered a mushroom soup with a brownie and the gentlemen whom ran the cashier didn't even hand me my receipt and just walked away after ringing my order and giving me my card back, turns around and throws my receipt in the garbage .
Really !there where only two customers including myself and I asked you "am I all set" been polite since I didn't want to be a biiitch and sarcasm can be much sweeter than been stray up rude .
I hope they overcharge me so I can dispute the charge since I was not properly given a receipt. Wow people must truly hate their lives because with that attitude baby you aint going far, nor financier patisserie paying you for turning customers off and away. -

New York, NYI love the raspberry napoleon. I think it probably would be better (for my taste preferences) not to have the raspberry. Since it isn't fresh I feel like it devalues the amazing experience!
The elephant ears are also really delicious (and on the cheap side at 2$), but sell out sometimes so try to get there earlier than the after work rush! -

I was walking around the UES at lunchtime today trying to think of where I got that perfect mararon. For the life of me, I couldn't remember. I stopped into three different places, hoping that one would have it. I returned to work empty handed, and sad. Thankfully, my memory prevailed and here I am, happily yelping about days gone by. -

Nevermind my gut-wrenching feeling that a real "patisserie" should be diametrically against hatching little egg-shaped franchises, keeping instead a solitary (and unique) aura, that therefore presupposes the quality of its baked goods. However true my feelings might be, we cannot say we weren't forewarned of this patisserie's capitalistic endeavors; indeed, the words "Financier" precede those of its own purported craft, signaling to the principled that they are in fact, poised to large-scale investing projects before anything else. But to avoid being crass -for such is not the proper conduct of a baker- "Financier" is also the name of a small French cake. Let them eat entendres.
In the meanwhile, Financier has been doing a terrific job cloning itself in various nooks and crannies, giving tired New York workhorses a pint of flare on their coffee breaks, and most definitely a far better tasting cup-of-joe than the one brewing on Pax, Gigi's, the local Delis *shudders* and soil-flavored Starbucks.
From Marjolaines, to Éclaires, toTiramisus, the Financier on Third Ave. does carry all the standard (and some other surprises as well) goods to swoon the workforce that inhabits this desolated part of Midtown (to be fair, there are some very nice Mom-and-Pop bakeries on First Ave. and the high Fifties, but those of us who work near Lex or Third WOULD NEVER stray that far East on our coffee break) Needless to say; this Financier is incredibly convenient. Skip the Lemonade, stick to the Joe, and order their Havane or Languedoc sandwiches whenever you've had enough of nearby Katagiri (like once every never-ever of course)
But it takes more than convenience for me to turn a blind eye to strictly complimenting solitary (and unique) efforts and endeavors in this oh-so commercially putrid era of lack of quality and individualism; Financier Patisserie brings something else to the whole forsaken barren Earth that is Midtown Eat Manhattan; the heavenly, mouth watering sweet respite of Macaroons.
And while not perfect by any stretch of the mind, the presence of these precious little things on my work day are worth 4 biased stars.
And 4 grams of fat to my waistline. Alas, poor abs I knew you well. -

New York, NYI'll start with the bad... their coffee is pretty bad, I gave it more than a couple of chances, but they are consistently bad (at least they are consistent?) The madeleines are also not worth it, they are not terrible, but if you're looking for the real deal, look elsewhere.
Their almond croissants however are REALLY good, they are really of the best in the city (I know it sounds crazy), but they are really delicious and my current obsession! Their pain au chocolat is pretty legit as well as their regular butter croissants. Their napoleon is decent tool but really if you come here, just get the almond croissant, you will not regret it! -

New York, NYThe macarons are actually pretty good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return. The store is small and generic, and the service is less attentive than McDonald's. When I'm buying high-end cookies at a high-end price, at least give the illusion that you give a damn. -

I pre-ordered a traditional 8.5 inch Yule Log (which serves 6-8 people0 and picked this location since it would be the closest one by my house.
I love French pastries as they're delicate and the taste is well balanced - without the overpowering taste of sugar. Furthermore, food is an art form and although Financier Patisserie is not a traditional bakery in a sense, they still are able to create delectable treats to bring over for a dinner party.
I submitted an order for the Yule Log cakes 2 days before Christmas and asked that it would be ready at 1pm. I came in an hour later because this spot is hard to locate and when I called asking for the exact address, the representative on the other line didn't know but said on the corner of 59th and Third Ave. across the street from Bloomingdales.
This spot is tiny and can get cramped if there are 4 people waiting in line in front of you. Granted, it was Christmas Eve, it would have been more beneficial for this establishment to be a little bit more efficient and organized.
I was disappointed that when they brought out my order, they already had it wrapped up as with traditional bakeries, they show you the cake before it's wrapped up to ensure the customer would be pleased with the purchase. However, they're not a mom and pop shop that thrives on repeat customers and establishing relationships but a corporation running on the idea that they can sell French pastries without the relationship.
Perhaps, this location is not the best place for the customer service as I've been to another establishment; but I will also give them the benefit of the doubt. Although, the woman before me seemed to have placed a call two days ahead for two Yule Logs and they seemed to have misplaced her order.
That's why you stick on online ordering.
I still give them 4 stars because the cake was delicious and beautiful and would definitely order from them. I just hope they learn how to be a bit more organized next time. -

New York, NYI love Financier because it's great quality and great service. This is my go-to spot for impressive little birthday desserts or their standard macaron box - $9 for 7 macarons, beautifully presented in a cute clear box.
This particular location is grab-and-go because the store is super tiny. However, it's well stocked, not far from Katagiri market and Bloomingdales, and the service is always great. I personally like this location even more than the bigger location near my work at Astor place.
Great coffee, and love that it comes with a mini financier each time. ;-) It's small but does the trick in giving you a little sugar, and goes amazingly with the coffee.
