Rancho Santa Fe, CAGreat price and large room, excellent for family with older kids who need their own bed, the staff was wonderful, storing our luggage before and after check in and out. Close to metro system and we felt safe walking in area at night. We would definitely stay here again. -

Seattle, WAThe rooms were nice and the price was good but the service was poor. The front desk staff was not helpful and made you feel like you were imposing on them whenever you asked them a question.
The continental breakfast was really weak - basically bagels and croissants and oranges - no orange juice, no toast, no cereal.
You have to go to the front desk to get your boarding pass printed, which I hate, especially when they're not very qualified, you have to walk them through it and they make you feel like you're being a pain.
There are better deals and better hotels. If everything else is full, this works in a pinch but you can do better. -

With 2 kids I need to know that I get 3 beds. this was an affordable place that met this requirement. I got the double queen suite with 2 queen beds and a sofa-bed. The front desk was fast and efficient, the only time that I asked for anything (more towels & more shampoo) I got them super fast...
The location is nice and very central to getting around manhattan. -

San Francisco, CAPoor business practices!
I just had foot surgery in San Francisco and booked this hotel while comparing it to several other hotels in the area for a trip a month away. When I returned back to the website, the dates automatically default to 2 days from the current day (conveniently). I overlooked this and booked the hotel on a Tuesday for that Thursday (not only do I not have flights , I also just had surgery). I realize my mistake the very next day and cancel the hotel. I receive an email that I owe the first night's stay for that Thursday night. I understand that this was my mistake initially, but then...
I email the hotel to say, my mistake, but the reservation is only 24 hours old and I explained my circumstances. The manager nicely told me that the dates default to 2 days later (unlike all of the other hotel sites, which maintain the searching dates), and that he would try to fill that room. He told me that if he could book that night, he would not charge me.
$226.87 LATER...of course he's not going to book all of the rooms on a Thursday night with one day of notice. I made my mistaken reservations 2 days in advance and there were plenty of rooms available and I see why. What goes around comes around...poor business handling and no human heart. -

IL, ILThis hotel is great if you aren't looking to spend a lot of time in the hotel! (Why would you though--you are in NYC!) Getting out of the cab at the doorway during the day was a slight heart attack. I didn't expect to see all the street hagglers that were right there! But I warmed up to them!
I felt as though it was really reasonable for Manhattan. $1500 for 4 nights with two queen-sized beds. Room had more space than I expected but wasn't too spacious. The bath had plenty of space which my Manhattan-living sister was so jealous of (totally funny to me!).
We seemed to have a perfect location staying at the Broadway Plaza. Great subway line at the next block. We seemed to be midway between the financial district (Wall Street and Statue of Liberty) and Central Park & shopping. And it seemed easy to walk in any direction to find something to do which was great!
Only disappointment was the continental breakfast which was not good. I ate half of a stale bagel. We actually saw them scoop all the leftovers back into a box and put it into a cabinet to most likely serve the next day. We skipped the breakfast the next few days and just went somewhere for lunch. -

Santa Clarita, CAGreat hotel if you're on a budget. The room was big enough for our family of four (of course, we spent most of our time in the city). It's right in midtown and a short block to the subway so it's easy to get everywhere.
They must have been listening to the complaints about the breakfast because, as far as hotel continental breakfasts go, it was pretty good. Personally, I tended to go out and about for my breakfasts but my family was perfectly happy at the hotel.
The staff were always very helpful.
As for the neighborhood, it's interesting. It's just full of hair-extension and cellphone accessory-type businesses, that's all. Oh, and it's full of *gasp* people of color so if the only people you ever see are white, it might be a shock to you (it was to my nine-year-old daughter but she got over it quickly). Honestly, folks, the neighborhood is just fine. We would come back on the subway late at night and never felt unsafe walking to the hotel for a second. -

Downey, CASo my friends and I chose this place because it had decent sized rooms, wasn't too expensive, and accessible to the subway. It wasn't the best place I've ever stayed in but it wasn't the absolute worst. After searching Travelocity and Orbitz, I actually got the best deal off the hotel's own website.
Check-in was easy. The elevators are slow. Continental breakfast sucks. The bathroom is big for being an NYC hotel. We were on the 12th floor so we can an awesome view of the Empire State Building. Housekeeping did a great job. Hotel provided toiletries were not very good. The soap dried my hands immensely that 3 days later, I'm still feeling the effects. The AC works. The beds were comfy enough that we could all fall asleep. The double room had a enough room for 4 people and all of our stuff. Staff was friendly for the most part. Had a rude encounter with the concierge who was hailing a cab for us to get to JFK. Late check-in is at 1PM but they hold luggage for you for however long you need. NO BEDBUGS!
We only spent time here to sleep and get ready for our adventures. All in all, it was a good value for what we paid! -

The location of this hotel makes it worth every penny. It is close to subways, time square, shopping... everything!
The lobby is basically a hallway (non existant) there is no bling what so ever to this place but what do expect for the price in the middle of Manhattan?
The desk staff were nice and the doorman hailed a cab for us and took our bags. Our room was small but had decent views of broadway. When I go to a city I don't go to hang out in the hotel room so it was really perfect for a one night stay in new york. You can walk to bars and restaurants and everything is just a cheap cab ride away (it was about $10 to get to central park).
The parking is retarded! $25 a night or so!!!!! but... again.. its Manhattan so what can you expect.
Great location makes it all worth it. -

Phoenix, AZMy family and I stayed here for four nights in June 2010. This is a good hotel with large, clean rooms, is quite reasonably priced (for NYC), a helpful staff and is convenient to several subway lines. Definitely a good value for the money.
We had a room on the second floor, so we didn't have a great view that others have mentioned, and while that would have been nice, it wasn't a big deal. The room was quite spacious with two queen beds, a dresser/TV combo type thingy, a desk and a small table. The room was very clean and while the carpet seemed a little old it wasn't gross or disgusting.
There were a few oddities to the room. I'm not sure if this was an old office building, but there was a set of fluorescent tube lights in the ceiling of our room (right as you walked in) and the ceiling tiles seemed as if they should be in an office building. The type of tiles didn't lead to it being noisy, though. The exception was in the bathroom - I could hear the hair dryer from another room somewhere one morning although that was coming through the air vent. Another oddity as far as the room goes: we could hear the subway (N-R-W trains) as it went below the building down Broadway. It wasn't distracting or bothersome, but you could definitely hear it, especially in the bathroom. The room was large, comfortable, clean and gave the four of us enough space.
The breakfast was OK - a typical continental breakfast of bagels/cream cheese, doughnuts, some danish and juice. Since it's included in the price of the room, it's enough to get you going and keep you going until lunch. Two mornings we got there a little late and there wasn't anything left, so if you're going, go early. Thankfully in NYC there's always a street vendor nearby to get breakfast from cheaply if the food is gone.
The staff was helpful as well. The doorman was able to set us up with a car service to LaGuardia for our return trip as well as answer questions about things in the area. The folks at the front desk were quick to check us in and out and when we called down they brought us extra pillows and a rollaway bed (my stepdaughters seemed to have trouble sharing a bed) promptly.
The neighborhood is interesting - it is definitely not a touristy area. There are lots of little shops to sell you electronics, fashion accessories, etc. Some are wholesale, some not. I felt safe in the area, both daytime and nighttime. It does get very quiet at night, but even at 11:45 at night there were still a few people around. Just don't be a stupid tourist standing on the corner, counting your money, looking lost and/or waving your iPhone about (that behavior will find you trouble anywhere) and you'll be fine. There's also a little convenience store around the corner (27th street) called "My Place Deli" that's great for picking up snacks, bottles of water, etc. I didn't try the deli food so I can't comment on that.
Several subways are close by. You can get the N-R-W trains at 28th and Broadway (a block from the hotel), you can catch the 6 train at 28th and Park Ave S. or the 1 train at 28th and 7th Ave. The last two you have to walk cross the avenues (east-west, not north-south) so they're a little further than the N-R-W trains but they're still easily walkable.
Overall, this is a great little hotel that serves its purpose - a clean, comfortable place to sleep when you're tired from a long day of sightseeing (or work) in NYC. -

My family of 4 recently spent 2 night at this hotel. Here's the low-down:
1. THE GOOD: first and foremost, the staff was wonderful! We initially had some minor maintenance issues in our room, and a repair guy came up right away. He was SO nice and helpful, even giving us tips on navigating the city, and he returned later to give us e BEST map of the city ever (I think it was his personal map, and he just gave it to us! It was very thoughtful of him and we used it a LOT!). Check-in and out was fast and problem-free. The room was very clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The AC worked well. Even though we thought the price was still a lot, apparently the price here is a good value for comparable hotels.
2. THE BAD: the complimentary breakfast isn't worth what it costs (!). Man, it was bad. Stale chocolate donuts (at least a day old - probably much older) and bagels hard-as-rocks. Despite being on a strict budget and having access to this free breakfast, we all still opted to go elsewhere and pay for breakfast. Our toilet didn't flush well at all, and the sink and bathtub didn't drain well (is this the norm in mid-town Manhattan hotels? Perhaps). The shampoo provided was very harsh and they didn't provide conditioner; it would be wise to bring your own. We had a room on the second floor, so our view consisted of the scaffolded bldgs across the street and garbage bags. Also, there are extra charges for everything: kid over 13 yrs old? $10 more per night for an adult fare. You want a fridge in the room? $10 more per night. You want wi-fi to use your iPad and check emails? $10 more per night. We felt a little nickel and dimed.
3. THE UGLY: the neighborhood. Perhaps this is a safe area, but I didn't feel it. With two young daughters, we didn't feel comfortable walking around here at night. Lots of garbage in bags on the sidewalks, very low-end stores and people lingering outside storefronts all day, making comments as we pass by. Not the best.
If I were single and in my 20s, this would be a great place. With young kids, not so much. -

Wilmington, DEWe stayed here the week end of the NY Marathon and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The room was quite large, bright and possibly the cleanest room I've ever had.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They serve a complimentary continental breakfast including free Starbucks coffee. The only complaint I can think of is that the hotel looks a bit shabby on the outside and the lobby could use a facelift. The hotel is located a block away from the subway making a very convenient place to stay.
I have no problem highly recommending this hotel. We had a great time in NYC even though the subway wasn't running lower than 34th St. due to hurricane Sandy. -

Brandon, FLThis hotel gets four stars from me, because on checking in, they put us up in the spacious room at the top floor! The only room on that floor, I might add. This provided a spectacular view of the Empire State Building. The desk clerks were nice, not snooty.
Yeah, the elevator was a bit of a wait, but it wasn't too bad. There was no carpeting on the room's floor, it was marble tile, but that's what socks are for!
The concierge guy was friendly and very knowledgeable on places to go and where to eat. The surrounding area was filled with those supplies stores that aren't open to the public, busy busy busy during the day, dead and shuttered during the evening.
Look into this place if you're on a budget, and don't want to bother with the ritzier hotels. -

San Anselmo, CAOur room's internet connection was weak - may well have been my computer (a Mac) but I complained and the manager arranged another room for us...extremely nice and courteous, and the wireless works great now. On top of that the Bway Plaza is clean, near a number of subways stops, rooms are large and very well appointed (big towels, comfortable beds, irons, etc). All for a very reasonable cost, althouhg we may have gotten in on a sale. The free breakfast is fine although not the best there is. I wanted to write a nice review because they really helped us. PS the good wireless router is on the 6th floor - mac users note! -

San Jose, CAI know it's not exactly a luxury hotel, but they try. Go here if you're on a budget. The workers are all very friendly. The receptionists and doormen are very considerate and patient with guests. They really want to help you. The breakfast isn't that great, but hey it's free so whatever. The hotel was very warm. Warmer than my home in California. My room had a magnificent view of Empire State building. The neighborhood isn't that great but it's close to a lot of other sites. -

Cincinnati, OHBang in the middle of the most crowded city, at a walking distance from all the major attractions is the Broadway Plaza Hotel. Affordable, clean and well-maintained with a bathroom equal in size to the bedroom, it is a complete 'value-for-money' deal. The reception staff is extremely courteous and well-informed about transportation means to get to each of the major attractions around the city. I recommend this hotel very strongly. If at all there is anything that can be improved, it is the spread of continental breakfast and the 'dining-hall', which is nothing but a really really small hallway masquerading as a cafeteria. Having said that, I would also like to add that the advantages of the hotel far outweigh this minor inconvenience. And did I mention the really cheap parking (Central Parking @ $25/night) available at a walking distance from the hotel (yes, the parking is subsidized to @25/night by the hotel).
Ideal for budget-strapped travelers, who are looking to spend most of the time out on the streets of NY, moving from attraction to attraction. Ask me if I recommend this to high-maintained travelers? - No I won't. -

Seattle, WAGreat location, great price (under $100!) and the room was clean, decent sized and breakfast was also free and enough to get by without having to stop for a bagel somewhere else. The pillows weren't so comfortable but I would stay here again considering the price of some other places in Manhattan! And the cherry on top was that they offered parking at an adjacent parking structure for only $25/night!
