Roger Hotel-- once the Roger Williams, many moons ago

Roger is descended from the old Roger Williams Hotel and as I remember was one of the first old hotels to be renovated and transformed...

It certainly looks very sleek and classy and also has it seems a lounge...

Onward to the Yelp reviews if we can have any...Ha ha...we have another one of these collections of raves versus well--NOT raves (including photo one guy took of bug that was in his bathroom!)

Such a great hotel! It's all in the details and this place nails it on the head with a shiny hammer. Wonderful rooms, great staff, and amazing decor throughout the place. I even noticed they changed they flower arrangements each day in the lobby - now that's detail! Also, the younger male doorman was such a nice guy, very welcoming. Keep up the good work!

I would definitely recommend The Roger.

First thing first... Good luck to all guest who booked the hotel through bidding sites. If you booked through priceline, http://hotels.com, orbitz, hotwire, or any third party site. You will be treated like an illegal immigrant!

    Scene of check-in day:

Staff: "how may I help you today"
    me: "checking in..."
Staff: "sure, let me look up your reservation...." yada yada.. blah blah...
me: "could you please put me in a non-smoking double bed room?"
staff: "sir, sorry we are all booked during the time of your stay. I would not be able ger you a room that you requested. right now we only have a king size bed available. looks like you have 3 people?"
manager: mumbling to the staff.... "sir, how can I help you..."
me: "your staff just told you our situation..."
manager: "let me take a look..... (5-10 mins pause...) I can get you a double bed room, but we will need to charge you $40 a night (additonal)..."
me: "no choice... but looks like your staff lied about overbooking huh?"
manager: "on top of the $40, we have a $25 dollar per night MANAGERIAL FEE (includes free internet, pool, etc etc..."
me: "your joking right? this hotel has a fee like that? I don't need your free internet since I have it on my phone. priceline already included all fees and I will not pay additional fees."
manager: "we'll waive the managerial fee as a courtesy for your stay this time..."

    BLAH BLAH...

Small ass lobby! no table, no chairs in the room.... Charge $6 bucks for a bottle of water, and $6 for all amenities like tooth brush and toothpaste.

oh and i found small bugs in the bathroom ...

and I found out they don't vacuum your room everyday.. I had cookie crumbs in one location near the bedside which I found after returning to the room that night.

conclusions? they wanted to rip/jew me additonal $65 a night + additional taxes! LOL

Second trip to The Roger is better! I attribute this to the fact that this time I have my own room; no more discovery channel-esk animal fights for the bathroom. Thank goodness! Now I see how wonderful the staff is and how clean the rooms are. It really is spotless here!

Whether coming to NYC for work or play, I'm glad to know I have a good clean option in case I need it.

Beautiful hotel. Good location. Friendly staff.  I had a penthouse terrace room.  The room is incredibly small and the terrace was a sliding glass door leading to an oversized ledge.  There was only enough space to fit a chair.  Don't be deceived by the title "terrace" room.

I'm obsessed with this place.  However, it's a bit pricey.  I booked through Priceline and was charged a $22 daily service fee.  In all, I only paid like $300 and something for three nights, which wasn't bad.  The beds are amazingly comfortable ... so comfortable, in fact, that I did not want to get up... ever.

The showers are nice.  A little weird without the door, but nice nonetheless.  Plus, they have amazing shampoo/conditioner/body wash.  Just don't use the robe, intimacy kit, or anything else that you don't plan on purchasing!

The new remodel makes it look hip and trendy but wasn't a good experience for me.

The lobby's seating and tables look nice but are not conducive for a quick bit of business waiting for a taxi or car. The breakfast is served late so you'll have to go out of the hotel for a coffee, etc., which are close but there's not a place to comfortably eat in the hotel if you bring it back.

One of the 2 small elevators were broke during my 2 day stay making the wait for a ride to the 15th floor a long and painful and when it did come it was usually filled with cleaning and repair staff trying to do their jobs.

The air vent in the room was over the bed and blew irritating air that caused me to loose my voice to a dry throat and dust particles from the recent remodel.

I'm sure it'll be good in another month or so but I don't think I'll give it a second try 2 of 5 Stars.

This is a modern hotel in the middle of New York (mid town). It is ideally located for a variety of functions. The lobby is modern with a small bar next to the entrance. Not much seating space in the lobby. The mezzanine houses the breakfast area / restaurant. The area is a calm oasis in the middle of a busy city. The rooms are modern and the beds are very nice. The bathrooms are small but recently renovated with a great shower. Overall great rooms and a nice experience. The place is a bit pricey but the location is fantastic and the facilities are great, so quite fair. Certainly going to come back here on a future visit.

This is a rather nice boutique hotel. It's off the beaten path and yet centrally located. The evening front desk staff was much nicer than the morning staff. The room was small as was expected. It was really clean. Watch out for the extras! They charge a lot for the bottled water, candy ($6 for M&Ms) and all other things you may have forgotten. You"re better off going to Duane Reade. The bed and pillows are ridiculously comfortable! I could have slept all day! Turn on the fan at night to drown out the street noise.

Beautiful boutique hotel booked at an affordable price though QuickBook.

The lobby was spacious, modern and inviting with cute couches and a small bar in front.  Our hotel room was surprisingly large, compared to most standard closet sized hotel rooms in Manhattan and was stocked with essentials from C.O. Bigelow.

I really wish we could've stayed another night, and we probably will stay here next time we're in NYC: upon checkout, the staff at the counter gave us a coupon for 20% off our next stay if we booked directly through the hotel, and it would include a couple of complimentary cocktails.

Overall: Lovely room, friendly staff, central location.
