Nemo Karaoke --also in Eastern part of Village

I feel I have established the fact that yes, karaoke IS alive and well in Manhattan...Now comes Nemo Karaoke in Eastern part of Village near Bway...

I have never been here, so let's go to Yelp ( this just about rounds out my reviews for tonight, July 12)

One last note: yes, some definite sour apples I saw among some of their extended list of reviews and no doubt about it, this place gets LOUD....

    Update - 6/8/2013
I'm updating this to 5 stars because:

    a) the hospitality here is unmatched by basically any other karaoke place, except for MAYBE Karaoke Duet and Boho on the east side
    b) sometimes you get slipped extra song cards if you do a good job! sshhh
    c) i haven't had the microphone problem in forever -- i think they've been switching them out and charging them throughout the night
    d) they have some RARE songs here. "Melt My Heart to Stone" by Adele?! i don't think i've seen that anywhere else in the city!

Will not come back to this place again. We were told of a different price rate for karaoke and end up paying for it. We had asked if the price we pay for karaoke covers for drinks and were told yes. However, when the bill arrives, they said it does not cover for drinks and made us pay for it. Not negotiable.

I found this place pretty pricey unless it's 3 ppl or more. I went here on a whim and was told it would be 24/hr, but it was only 2 ppl. The drinks were pricey and the tip was included. I guess they have the right to run their business any way they want, but tip should be a choice and what am I really tipping for. They smile as they bring in the drinks. Probably wouldn't go back unless my go to spot is occupied like it was last time.

I came here with friends recently, and it was super fun. We got a room upstairs. There was a great variety of songs, and the atmosphere was clean and comfortable. The acoustics in the room were noticeably favorable, but once you walk out into the hallway, it's clear that while everyone sounds good in the rooms, the truth is that we're just screaming atonally to Spice Girls songs.

On the flip side, I found all the drinks to be overpriced and the pricing scheme generally somewhat unclear. The upstairs rooms were in a narrow hallway that felt kind of like a maze, so it was a sort of strange layout. The karaoke songs also had some annoying additional vocals, and the screen did not always display all the lyrics or the correct lyrics. The service was only okay.

But overall, if you're in the area, this is a fun spot!
