Trump Named Towers

The Trump Palace, yet another tower with "The Donald's" name on it...he never owned some of these buildings, just lent his name to them..in at least one case they kicked him off the board of the place but kept his name...

I heard Mr. Trump on TV once ( when he was not raving about the authenticity of President Obama's Hawaiian birth certificate) saying he liked tall towers because " people like big views in Manhattan"--i.e., the vistas they can behold from one of his buildings.

This is probably true.  In some cases this impulse was squashed by local zoning boards, e.g., along Fifth Avenue, which limited apartment buildings overlooking the Park to a certain height ( about eleven floors) all the way from maybe 72nd Street up to 96th Street...they thought this would give the Avenue a Parisian, Haussmann-like feeling and maintain human scale...(they repealed this law at some point I believe and I know Fifth Avenue lower down has some famous " elite" buildings that are pretty damn tall...and of course, the Pierre Hotel down at about 63rd Street.
