Coffee Time...the Polyglot Angle

Some people must have their tea, others, like Scots and Americans and many others prefer coffee and a good number of people enjoy both, except at different times of the day ( I fall into this category).

My father, who was an early riser, needed coffee desperately upon waking.. and he had to have milk in it, too (no sugar). This is not uncommon.

Starbucks has made a fortune out of the idea of a genteel cup of coffee (and also from the Yuppie value of "conspicuous consumption.")

It is typical of Manhattan that someone will "get creative" on one of these chalkboards that advertise wares outside restaurants...

As for the English, let us not forget that they also gave us Coffee Houses, such as where Lloyd's of London got its start.

Almost all new research is good news for coffee drinkers. It helps reduce the risk of all kinds of ailments, including cancer. Just don't overdo it and get "coffee nerves," folks!
