Fire departments throughout this nation need to follow the lead of their neighboring police and place a new, heightened emphasis on prioritizing efforts to train their firefighters on situational awareness to potential violence.
Often, fire and EMS personnel end up in situations where their patient becomes agitated or violent and there are no police officers on scene. Therefore, the fire service needs to know how to protect themselves so they can survive.
