FALL 2016 EMDR BASIC TRAINING COURSE This 7-day EMDR Institute Training, with EMDR trainer and NIP faculty member, Karen Alter-Reid, Ph.D. is spread out over a two month period.  The training consists of lecture, live and videotaped demonstrations, case studies, supervised experiential practice and ongoing case consultation. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss their cases throughout the course and evaluate how EMDR therapy can be integrated into their clinical work.  The 10-hour consultation requirement for completion of EMDR Basic Training is embedded into this course. Participants will also practice EMDR therapy in small groups with direct observation and feedback from the trainer and facilitator staff. Trainees will become familiarized with a broad spectrum of EMDR therapy applications sufficient for comfortable and efficient use with a wide range patients and situations. Emphasis is placed on integrating EMDR therapy, neuroscience, and trauma concepts into the framework of a relational psychoanalytic treatment. This course is designed for licensed mental health practitioners who treat adults and children in a private practice or other clinical setting.  Participants must have an active psychotherapy caseload so that they can begin to integrate and utilize EMDR therapy in their practices during the six-week training period.   FALL 2016 TRAINING DATES: September 23, 24 October 21-23 November 19-20 REGISTER NOW Fee:  1,995.00 50 CE contact hours for New York State social workers & APA. 40 professional CE's are approved for this course by non-NYS social workers, graduate nursing professionals, LMFT's and psychologists. Dr. Karen Alter-Reid is Founder of the Big Oak Psychotherapy Training Institute, an EMDR Institute Regional Trainer, a Trauma Recovery/Humanitarian Assistance Program Trainer, an EMDRIA Approved Provider of EMDR Basic Training and a Specialty Topics Presenter.  She is recognized for her post-Katrina 'Therapy for Therapists" project which provided EMDR treatment to therapists who were themselves survivors of Hurricane Katrina.  She has most recently coordinated efforts by the Fairfield County Trauma Recovery Network, a group of EMDR professionals, who have responded to the training and clinical needs of the Newtown/Sandy Hook community.  Karen is also trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy.  She has been in practice for 25 years with 15 years of providing EMDR treatment.  To learn more about Dr. Alter-Reid, go to: www.alter-reid.com. Nancy Bravman, LCSW, is the Associate Director of NIP’s Integrative Trauma Program. She has a particular interest in the integration of psychoanalytic psychotherapy and trauma-informed approaches to treatment.  She is an EMDRIA (EMDR International Association) Consultant, and is also trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing and IFS (Internal Family Systems). Hope Payson, LCSW, LADC is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Addictions Counselor, EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and EMDRIA Specialty Presenter.  She specializes in the use of EMDR to address PTSD, complex trauma and chemical dependency.  Hope is a Consultant and Facilitator for the Big Oak Psychotherapy Training Institute. Dr. Salvi, Ph.D. is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and is both Consultant and Facilitator for the Big Oak Psychotherapy Training Institute. She is a licensed psychologist, licensed clinical social worker, and Coordinator of the Westchester County Trauma Recovery Network.  She maintains a private practice in White Plains, NY where she provides integrative treatment for children, adolescents and adults. Sarah St. Onge, Ph.D. is the Director of the Integrative Trauma Program at the National institute for the Psychotherapies and Co-Chair of the Certificate Program in Integrative Trauma Studies at NIP.  An EMDRIA Consultant -in-Training, Sarah is a certified EMDR therapist, and is currently studying to be a Somatic Experiencing practitioner. Sarah maintains a private practice in Manhattan where she provides integrative trauma treatment for children, adolescents and adults, and conducts psychoeducational and neuropsychological evaluations.
