WPIX reports on "my" big one on Upper West Side

Investigators looking into cause of Upper West Side building fire

UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan — FDNY have brought a three-alarm fire at an Upper West Side building under control.
The fire started just after 10 a.m. Tuesday and intensified to a third alarm minutes after 11 a.m. At 1:30 p.m., the fire was finally brought under control.
Firefighters were battling the blaze at 2642 Broadway, a mixed-use commercial and residential building. The FDNY reports that the fire was caused by duct work in the restaurant.
Empire Chinese Restaurant as well as Carmel Car Service are listed online at that location.
No injuries have been reported, according to the FDNY.
A witness reports seeing smoke from the fire 20 blocks away.
The Office of Emergency Management tweeted that people nearby should avoid smoke by closing windows.
