Even Firefighters who are in peak physical condition are no match for deadly gases when their oxygen supply runs out..
This is a story of one death and one survival and the lessons learned...
And also, of the near death visions of a firefighter who heard his wife and two children calling to him..
"This fire changed our whole culture in regards to deadly gases," notes the Chief of the Asheville fire department...
"We used to rate gas exposure (which damages the heart terrifically) as a two or a three on a scale of one to ten...now we place it way over ten..."
