Brotherhood of Fire would like to pay special tribute to “Zero”, a long-serving dog in the K-9 unit in the Camden County Police Department, New Jersey who died last Monday.
He was a much loved and respected member of the Camden County Police Department who every night he went out he took one for the team.

Zero was more than a K9 officer; he was an ambassador for the Camden County Police Department to the citizens of Camden, especially the children.
Zero and his partner / handler Lt. Zsakhiem James helped build bonds with Camden’s residents by doing countless demonstrations together at schools, parks and community events.
Everywhere he went in the city, people, especially kids recognized him.
In 2014, Zero and his handler James broke the state record for career K9 arrests.
Zero’s most memorable arrest was in 2010 when he sniffed out a suspect who had allegedly stabbed someone in the neck with scissors and was hiding under insulation in a ceiling crawl space inside a home.
Zero located him and the suspect attempted to fight him off, who then ran out of the house before Zero tackled him.
Zero also used his impressive skills to locate missing children and find wandering Alzheimer’s patients.
After every apprehension, he was rewarded with his favorite treat from McDonald’s… Chicken McNuggets.
Rest in peace, Zero
Thank you for your near decade of service
Thanks for patrolling one of the toughest beats in the world.

What is “The Honor Flag”?
Shortly after the September 11, 2001 attacks, a flag was gifted to Chris Heisler by the Texas House of Representatives.
Like many Americans, Chris Heisler felt compelled to take action during a horrific time for the United States, and with this flag in tow, he set out for Ground Zero.
Along the way, Heisler helped to organize one of the longest police motorcades in the history of the United States, bound for Ground Zero bringing many tokens of support together with other agencies, to our nation's Heroes.
Since September 2001, the United States Honor Flag has paid tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty protecting our lives, our homes and our country, and also those who currently serve our communities and our nation.
The Honor Network was founded on the conviction that every person who is committed in service to our communities and country deserves the support of every single American, and that an increase in American patriotism is vital in keeping our great nation united.
As The Honor Network President and Co-Founder, Chris Heisler is charged with upholding the organization's mission to remind Americans of the sacrifices made by the men and women in uniform; a subject with which he has first-hand knowledge.
Where has the flag been?
A few of the many places the United States Honor Flag has been to honor our Heroes include:
o NASA Shuttle STS-135 Atlantis
o Funerals for our Public Safety and Military Heroes
o National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Memorial
o National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial
o State Memorials
o Carnegie Hall
o U.S. Capitol
o State Capitols
o The Pentagon
o Presidential Libraries
o US Combat Theaters
o VA Hospitals
o USS Lexington
o Seattle Space Needle
o Various NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA and other sporting events
Chris is currently in stable condition at Porter Adventist Hospital located in the metro Denver, Colo., area.
A news release says he is surrounded by family members he recovers and that he hopes to return home to Texas in the coming days.
Heisler was vacationing at a family cabin in Grand Lake, Colo., when the stroke occurred.
U.S. Honor Flag events have been canceled though January 2016.
Chris was quoted recently on his facebook page…
“Every breath is a gift.
This will not waiver or impact my commitment.
Humbled, thankful, and renewed.
We have only just begun.
Little bit more drag on the left, but my heart is full and my mind remains alert.”
* Please say a special prayer and/or leave a comment for well-wishes and Godspeed healing and rehabilitation.
Thanks Chris for teaching us about Honor and Respect.
Godspeed healing Brother.

"We've had a tragedy here in Hamilton this morning," Fire Chief Steve Dawson said. "The firefighters arrived on scene and found heavy smoke coming from the structure. They proceeded to make entry into the structure, and once inside, one of the firefighters fell through the first floor into the basement."
Upon arrival crews responding to the fire call found heavy smoke coming from three sides of the house. Firefighters including Wolterman moved into the house.
Fellow firefighters located and rescued Wolterman from the basement and performed CPR, but was pronounced dead at Fort Hamilton Hospital.
Other units on scene extinguished the fire.
Initial reports were that people were inside the home when the fire broke out, but relatives who said the couple who for decades have lived in the home were away on vacation.
Patrick Wolterman's death is Hamilton Fire Department's first in the line of duty since 1971.
He was hired in April, 2015 after several years of experience with other local departments and was recently married.
Rest in Peace Brother

!['Brotherhood of Fire fans,
I'm wondering if we can help spread the word through facebook about this 14 year-old Longwood Fire Company, PA Honorary Firefighter Gianna Winters’ Christmas wish / dream of one day meeting the @[162573130535985:274:Chicago Fire] - TV Show Actors and Producers
I think we can help this special young woman accomplish her dream by sharing this post until it reaches the attention of someone who could make it all happen.
What’s Gianna’s story and why is she so deserving of this?
I’ll let her explain it her explain it herself…
Here’s the letter she sent into “Brotherhood of Fire”
"Dear Brotherhood of Fire,
I was born premature (born too early) so I had gotten one of my disabilities, called Cerebral Palsy, from my premature birth.
Cerebral Palsy made it hard for me to walk and talk, but I've improved over the years.
I had to wear special leg braces called MAFOs from kindergarten to around fifth grade because my legs were too tight and my ankles would hit eachother and I would sometimes fall.
I also have learning issues so I was placed in a special ed classroom in elementary school.
I'm put on medicine every winter to help control my blood circulation and pain. When it's cold my blood vessels thin or something like that which causes pain and bruising. The medicine keeps my blood circulation working clearly.
In 2013 I was in and out of the hospital a lot and had some ambulance rides so when I was well enough I thanked my local fire dept (Longwood Fire Company) for taking care of me and the firefighters and I have stuck like glue since.
So they made me a Honorary Firefighter of their fire dept. They even have gave me my own firetruck ride and my own turnout on December 21st, 2014.
That's how I got into the fireservice and how I decided I wanted to meet Chicago Fire.
Thank you for your time.
Gianna Winters"

What do you think?
Are you someone... or know someone who can make this happen?

!['This Christmas hearts are very heavy and particularly sad in and around... and for the Detroit Fire Department. Everyone is still in shock and in solemn mourning after the murder of one of their own.
Fire Engine Operator (FEO) David “Super Dave” Madrigal worked for the fire department for 25 plus years and was currently assigned to Engine 33. He was also a member of the Honor Guard and was set to retire in spring of 2016.
After not hearing from him Dave Madrigal's son went to check on him at his home around 7:30 p.m. last Monday and found him dead in a chair. An upstairs bedroom was ransacked and a floor safe was stolen.
Early reports indicated Madrigal had been shot, but the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office determined he had not been shot, but was killed by blunt force trauma to the head.
Madrigal's car was also missing. He drove a 2015 black Ford Explorer. It has since been found completely destroyed by fire.
Known affectionately as "Super Dave", Dave was / is a “Legend”.
According to those at the DFD there isn’t anyone on the job at Detroit Fire (out of 900) who didn't know this man… or at least know "of" him.
A shinning example of a Fire Engine Operator who knew his craft and without hesitation would take the time and teach new guys how to "DO IT!" He was a super high quality, fine individual and pleasure to work with!
Please say a special prayer, moment of silence or send healing thoughts for peace… and JUSTICE to Dave’s family, friends and the Detroit Fire Department… especially at 33’s.
If you have any information that could help Detroit Police make an arrest, you're asked to PLEASE give them a call at (313) 596-5200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
Rest in peace “Super Dave”
We are horribly sickened that someone could do this to you.
We will NEVER FORGET you.
We have the watch from here
Until we all meet again on the “Top Floor”
