We are taking part in a major training exercise in London between Tuesday 30 June and Wednesday 1 July.
We test Contingency Plans and the co-ordination of the response to a Major Incident on a regular basis. This exercise is not in response to any specific threat.
The exercise will not affect our day-to-day work and emergency service response, this will continue as normal.

Crews from Holloway fire station delivered the first of four community engagement events in partnership with the Emirates Hub Team, who work as part of the Arsenal in the Community project. Twelve young people aged between 10 and 13-years-old from local Islington and Camden estates enjoyed a four hour session experiencing life as a London firefighter.

A warehouse in West London is as close as they’ll get to Hollywood, but Victoria Metz and Richard Binder had starring roles in short films about their working lives that will be broadcast later this year on CBS Reality UK (Sky 146, Virgin 148, Freesat 135, Freeview 66, TalkTalk 484). The shoot involved professional make-up, a huge film crew and free catering, although Victoria was disappointed there was no Winnebago to relax in between takes. Both showed they could, to use film-speak, ‘take direction’ and walk around ‘on camera’ without falling over, so they clearly have potential. The films will feature their anecdotes and reflections about firefighting and in Richard’s case, working for UK ISAR in Nepal.

Wembley blue watch recently helped children from a nearby primary school turn back the clock for their history project. Pupils from Barham Primary School popped into the station to recreate archive photos from the 1950s with our present day crews.
Watch Manager Chris Swallow, said: “We agreed that 90 children would visit us to see if we could try and recreate the scenes in the old photographs. We organised a photo shoot outside the front of the station and demonstrated a drill, both of which simulated the photographs from the 1950s.
“This was not only a chance for us to engage pro- actively with the school in their history project, it was also a great opportunity for us to get over some valuable fire safety messages to the children.”

Around 250 emergency services personnel took part in a major multi-agency training exercise that simulated a car and train crash in Bromley last weekend.
The exercise was across two locations with the road traffic accident on Lansdowne Road Bridge, close to Sundridge Park railway station and the train derailment in-between Sundridge Park and Bromley North station.

There’s still time to buy tickets for the museum’s lecture on Operation Dynamo: The little ships of Dunkirk, which is happening next week.
The talk will cover London Fire Brigade’s involvement in the evacuation of the troops trapped on the beaches of Dunkirk and the actions of the Massey Shaw fireboat, which was dispatched to France with an enhanced crew of LFB and Auxiliary Fire Service staff.

Good luck Acton Blue Watch who are setting off on their 120 mile charity walk today.
The watch are walking from their station to Sherborne fire station in Dorset in 48 hours to raise money for Time is Precious, a charity that provides equipment to support young patients and their families in hospital.

It’s a tough ride from Tower Bridge to the Eiffel Tower at the best of times, but cycling the 200 miles in less than 24 hours is harder still. Undaunted by the prospect of being saddle sore, Chris Wilson from Barking fire station set off for Paris on Wednesday afternoon with 14 other cyclists, six of them in the Brigade.
They’re aiming to raise £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of Brian Florey, a 35 year old father of two, who was tragically killed while training for Macmillan’s official ride in 2012. Brian was a popular figure on many fire stations, working to repair and maintain the Brigade’s vehicles.
