How can anyone not give this place five stars?  It is a huge Home Depot.  There is possibly nothing as gratifying as being able to do it yourself.  It is just fun.

Customer service here is superior for women.  Both female and male employees weren't shy about approaching a woman in here alone, probably because we don't actually have the layout memorized and often need help.  Everyone was courteous and quick on this Saturday morn.

I made my way to aisle 15 as directed and picked up the smallest spakle/primer combo tub and a putty knife all for about $8.  Thrilling.  If you care greatly, also get the sandpaper and paint, but too much trouble given my circumstances.  I just moved out of an apartment and have nails and double sided tape to get off the walls of my old apartment and holes to fill in.  Small hassle to get back a security deposit and I know my old building maintenance guys, as nice they are, will want to broker a disadvantageous deal with the helpless female for their manual labor so I'd rather try my own hand at it as an experiment.

I can see myself coming back here again to pick up an electric screwdriver to hang curtains and paint if I want to fix up my new apartment next.

Update:  This do-it-yourself is harder than I thought.  I would say the putty knife is mandatory for the spakle/primer to smooth it out evenly against the wall, but it is hard not to accidentally scrape the wall with the metal at the same time.  In hindsight, I would also recommend the sandpaper if you want to make it completely even.  Leftover spakle can also be used around sinks and tubs.

I enjoy coming into Home Depot-- the selection is huge, it's spacious, and it's open a lot later than the local hardware stores are.

You can tell the employees aren't paid all that well, though, because they aren't all that knowledgeable, and they don't seem to care all that much.  Just enough.

I just bought a compact fridge from Home Depot online.  I couldn't get a metallic colored one because this particular Home Depot didn't have it (and they couldn't get it shipped from Long Island, either).  So I bought a white one.  Which they then had to ship from Louisiana.

If they're shipping something all the way from Louisiana, why couldn't they ship a metallic colored one, instead?

It's because the online user interface, and the people I talked to on the phone, weren't able to be THAT helpful.

I really needed a fridge, so I couldn't be any more picky, but hopefully, you will be better able to get what you really want.

I really liked this Home Depot.

I was looking for several different items and didn't have a good understanding of the store layout. I had to ask several staff for directions because I was under time constraint. The staff I interacted with were all very friendly.

This location is super convenient as it is accessible by subway. I don't think there is a parking lot. I am still trying to adjust the fact that many NYC stores don't have complimentary parking lots.

They open early at 7am/8am depends on the day of the week.

I like Home Depot. But the customer service is the worst there is. Seriously, you can do better!!

I know not everybody loves coming to "Big Orange" but let me tell you why this location is top notch. My Wife and I  needed a tall plant for a specific spot in our home. We found a big, tall and heavy one, found a large planter, found the potting soil, rocks and tools we needed to pot it in the planter at home. Adelle, an amazing employee in the Garden section, notices that we are accumulating this set of items and lets us know that they will pot it for us, for free!

The tree took 4 people to hold it while she replanted it in the planter, added extra soil and rocks, made sure it was stable, then brought it upstairs to the checkout counter for us. Once repotted, the tree was 100+ pounds and 7ft tall, so we opted for delivery, which only cost 30 bucks to get to our place, plus 3 flights up our walkup directly to the door.

I would expect this kind of service form a Mom & Pop nursery, but I never expected it from Home Depot. Well done.

The location is convenient and it's HUGE which is hard to find in the middle of Manhattan.  I like how clean it is and because of the size it doesn't feel like a circus.

However, we waited for 30 minutes to get someone to copy a few keys...my BF even tracked down two separate people asking for help and they would say they were going to grab someone but no one came!!!  How FRUSTRATING!!!  by the time we had someone their making keys there was a huge line.  This isn't the first time we have waited for service at home depot and Blah, it's dumb.

This place gets a 5-star for the supremely fantastic service I got on my visit. Not only did the place have tons of employees, all of the ones I interacted with were friendly, approachable, knowledgeable, and had a fantastic sense of humour.

Not to mention, the location is so convenient and the store is huge! I didn't even expect Manhattan to have a Home Depot, but it looks like this one covers most needs.

I'm not much of a Home Depot-y person, but I would go again just for the cool people.

Seemed well stocked and well organized.  I came for a drill and bits.  They had a good selection of both.  The prices were what you would expect at every suburban Home Depot, which was surprising considering the location.  The only thing I didn't see was lumber. Maybe there though.

The Home Depot in Flatiron seems a bit out of place with all the other fancy pants retailers and buildings surrounding it, but this store is an essential for almost anything (hardware, gardening, interior design, etc.). Coming here is still a bit of a walk for me but it's so worth it.

The prices are reasonable, checkout is simple, the location is huge, and the staff is generally helpful. I bought a mirror here for $6 and a cactus for $5. This certainly beats prices anywhere else. The only thing that drives me crazy is the congregation at the bottom of the escalators and this includes employees, shoppers, tourists, etc. Seriously though, just move out of the way. =_=

Came here to buy window screens. I was surprised that the place wasn't super crowded after work on a weekday.  It was very easy to find an associate to direct me to where I can find the screens and I was in and out in under 10 minutes. For such a huge store, I appreciated that.  Only been there once so I will give it 3 stars.

I wen to HD for some moving supplies. I, sadly, had never been to this location. 1. it's huge! 2. it's very clean and organized. 3. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Since I am moving, I know I will be back for other thing!

I am an obsessive DIY person. I was literally at this HD everyday for three weeks when I first moved to my apartment. Finding a bomb deal on craigslist for a beautiful vintage entertainment center that needed some TLC, I pounced! Newly sanded, stained, and glossed, my entertainment center is the talk of all my friends. This inspired me to redo some of my Ikea el cheapies and class them up a bit. The paint and stain section is life changing. The rest is history!

Anyway, I LOVE this place. It's up there with Costco in my book. Like Costco, don't expect the city version of HD to fulfill all of your suburban HD dreams. Come here for basic hardware and basic decorating needs. (yes, decorating.... They have awesome lamps and accessories like drawer handles...Took a cheapo dresser from meh to fab!). And, its right next to all of the other home and decor stores on 6th ave!

The staff here is definitely not as knowledgeable as their suburban counterparts, but as an HD aficionado, I know the floor plan down pat! I've always been able to find someone to answer my basic questions and point me in the right direction though.

Expert Tip: the full-service line moves faster and is generally shorter than the self-service line...you know how that goes.

I never thought I'd ever write a review for the Home Depot but Devon, the HD Tools Guy (to use Peter D.'s very official naming convention), was extremely helpful and deserves a shout out.

The store can be kind of intimidating - it's HUGE - there are multiple stories! (ok - just two, but those two stories are HUGE!). By luck (or maybe they really do emphasize customer service), Devon happened to be walking by and asked if I needed help - I'm sure I looked very confused. We talked about power drills for a second, and told him I was looking to install some floating shelves in my apartment to hold dishes/glasses, etc. He basically told me the shelves I had already purchased were no bueno - they wouldn't be able to withstand the amount of weight I was looking to hold. And so began Devon's and my journey through HD, looking for the right kinds of shelves, tools and brackets needed to do what I wanted to do. He showed me various different types of shelving, demonstrated to me how much weight each would hold, which brackets would be the strongest, we brainstormed mixing and matching different shelves together to serve the purpose I needed without sacrificing the look I wanted to achieve. In a combined effort, we overcame all odds and selected the right number of shelves in the right sizes for my tiny apartment and to serve the right functions. Devon's the man.

The customer service representative that helped us with finding paint was friendly and helpful.

The store is organized and it is fairly easy to find what you're looking for. Prices are reasonable and it's great that they have self-checkout stations.
