American Dream Hostel-- East 24th Street

In the same neighborhood as luxurious places like Hotel Giraffe we also find...a hostel like American Dream.

No Yelp reviews available for this place ( I'll bet Yelp considers it beneath it to have reviews of it)
--so I am going with Trip Advisor.

Pretty good reviews, especially, the recent ones-- for this kind of place.

A very friendly place to stay. Good location. Very reasonable for New York. Generous breakfast provided. Tea and coffee available all day. Share bathroom facilities but that was no problem. The staff were very helpful.

Basic rooms. Bit noisy. But that's what you can expect in New York. Friendly staff. Beds could be better. Located near Madison Square Park, Empire State Building, Chrysler buildin, Flat Iron, easy access to the metro and close to some affordable restaurants which are definitely worth your while if you're not expecting michelin star food. Same goes for the hostel... More

Before making the reservation I read all the reviews about this hostel but still my expectations weren't high. I didn't believe the hostel was that great, but it is! What an excellent hostel! I honestly felt at home. This hostel has a very nice family atmosphere, warm and cozy, very different from all the hostels I know. The staff were... More

The place is a hostel, so after booking a single room I actually got a room with bunk beds all for me, which of course didn't make any difference to me. I must have been unlucky, though, considering all the reviews here on TA that praise the cleanliness of this hostel, for the shared bathrooms and the room's floor were... More

As a couple who are normally accustomed to staying in hotels, we found this hostel to be excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were on the smaller side but spotless and anyway, who needs a big room in NYC? The bathroom was always clean and we never had to wait and the kitchen provided a great simple... More

Stayed over a year ago with two girlfriends. Very tight squeeze in the rooms, but I guess it's what is to be expected in New York. Good neighbourhood, and easy to navigate NY from. Generous breakfast with lots of variety, nice communal areas, although again they were small.

Breakfast-freshly made waffles, boiled eggs, cereals, toast and pastries, fresh coffee, fruit-bananas/peaches. Peanut butter, Nuttella, maple serup and honey. Snacks -biscuits/cookies,twizzlers, pretzels all day/night long. Small Kitchen. Only common area to meet other people. Close to Madison Square Park & an easy walk to the Empire State Building. Great location. Great base for exploring Manhattan. Safe. A block from the... More

Found this to be a very nice base for both sightseeing and shopping in Manhattan. Good neighborhood, close to good eateries like the Snack Shack and all the Indians a few streets up. Male dorm was ok, pretty small and just a small window, aircon rather loud, beds extremely squeaky, bring earplugs! Shares bathroom just with next door (female dorm... More

Three of us were travelling heavily on a 5-day non-stop journey in NYC. Arriving from Washington DC through Penn Station was super duper tiring and taking two big luggage up and down the stairs of the subway is not a fun thing at all. Upon arrival at the hostel, we met another staircase challenging us. But anyway, after exposing to... More

American Dream Hostel is a very good choice for people who are visiting NYC the first time. Reasonable priced in an awesome location. Just two blocks away from 23rd street. Many attractions are reachable by foot. Loads of bars, restaurants, supermarkets and whatever you need close by. Facilities get cleaned many times each day, never saw em filthy at all.... More
