New York, NYAnn Taylor LOFT has recently ramped up their fits and designs to make them younger and more modern. (Note high-end models like Chanel Iman starring in their ad campaigns.)
I used to never be able to fit into anything from this store because the cuts were too big, but now their sizes are smaller and they even carry a petite XXS. Now I find myself shopping here as my go-to place for "work-appropriate" clothing.
The bonus- they have tons of sales and coupons on a regular basis, which means I don't have to spend a fortune not to look like a total slob at my job.
I appreciate the new sizing and will keep shopping here as long as the clothes fit. Now I find myself shopping less and less at Banana Republic, and more and more at the LOFT because ATL beats BR in fit AND price. Talk about a win-win situation!Listed in: Born to Shop -

I buy expensive jeans. I buy expensive shoes. I buy expensive undies. I buy sort of expensive purses. I buy vintage costume jewelry that should not be expensive but because it is vintage, is. I have no money. I mean, I wouldn't have any money to begin with but after all of the above I certainly don't have any money. This lends itself well to ramen and, also, ATL.
As jeans and purses and jewelry are worn multiple times during a one/two week period, I have no issues with spending more on these items for obvious reasons. Shirts and scarves, however, need to go as long as possible without being worn again so as not to create the illusion of going to work with the same GD outfit on every day.
Thus, I buy a lot of my tops and scarves at ATL. Sex appeal of this store? Zero. Maybe even negative zero. Nordstrom Rack has more sex appeal- and when I think of Nordstrom Rack I think of that older sister we all have, the one with the not too pretty face.
Today I have on amazing albeit obnoxiously fluorescent shoes, amazing jeans that sort of give strangers the impression that I might have an ass, an amazing vintage bracelet that obviously was over-priced, and an ATL sweater that I wear off-the-shoulder. It looks good, especially since I have an amazing and all too expensive yet trashy-looking visible red bra strap peeking out of it. By itself, the top would be nothing note-worthy and probably kind of boring. However, with the right combination, it just works. -

Jersey City, NYI know what you're going to say: isn't The Loft a woman's clothing store? Well yes it is. Which is why I'm more than qualified to give a review.
I came here to look for a birthday present for my friend, since i know she always buys stuff from here. I figured that the New York store would have more items to choose from than in New Jersey. And good Lordy, I was right.
I found a few pretty blouses, and a bunch of nice sweaters that she would've loved. I ended up with a nice blouse, and for a reasonable price. Of course, when a saleswoman asked me if I needed help, I said, " yes do you have anything in size 44?" ha ha ha, i'm such a comedian.
But yes, reasonable prices + good collection of clothes + not knowing what to get a chick = pretty good store.Listed in: Work it, Honey, Work it! -

This location carries a good variety of items and even Petites. They always do a nice job with the window displays which gets me to walk in to look at something in the window.
Economical prices for items that can be worn for work and play. -

This place could be good or bad, depends on who's paying and how much your buying. ; P
In this case I'm paying but I never have to pay bust out retail with Ann Taylor. Between the sales and reward dollars my wife collects I'm good to go. Actually, on this trip my wife picked up 3 shirts that added up to $90, 25% off they came to $60, she used some reward dollars and the total paid, $22 out the door.
This place is bigger than the Ann Taylor Loft Northeast of Times Square on Ave of the Americas but they have the nicer employees. There is a good selection here although it seems Ann Taylor is scaling back the petites in all the stores.
Best thing about the store is a couple of places to sit (which the other Loft I mentioned doesn't have). This gives a guy a moment to get off his feet for a bit and play some video games on his phone.
