Barking Dog Restaurant-- Have Been Walking Past It for Years....

I walk past the Barking Dog Restaurant just about every time I go to the 33rd Street subway station at Park Avenue...and seen its wall mural ( out of sight at left--that is what the artist statue , at right, is painting!)

What I have usually paid attention to is the super realist statue of the artist painting....
Love the fact that even the artist's equipment in case ( at lower left of pic) is carefully sculpted including the tubes of paint in it, etc.

Well, you may say, all this is great for ambiance ( as is the secluded garden eating area back from the noise of the street)-- but what about the nitty gritty here?

Well, Yelp is pretty favorable..

And, as I said, I have been walking past it for years and years --why haven't I ever eaten there? Short answer: Do you have any idea HOW MANY places to eat there are around here?

Anyhow, here is Yelp!

Came here for lunch with some coworkers. The atmosphere is cozy and a little hidden off of 34th street. It reminded me of a small restaurant in a suburban town outside the city. Not quite sure why but it did!

They have your regular lunch options here. Salads, sandwiches, burgers etc. They also had a large breakfast/brunch menu. I got the Cesar salad wrap with fries on the side. It was a generous portion for a reasonable price of $10. I will say the wrap was lacking chicken though. My friend got a salad which was gigantic and looked very fresh. I definitely recommend their salads if you come here. My other friend had a special request from the kitchen for their meatballs over veggies which wasn't on the menu. They were accommodating though and made it for him.

The service was alright, a bit delayed at times but overall very pleasant. Nice spot for an uncomplicated breakfast or lunch in Midtown.
