The heights of hilarity: Male rape in American prisons

On male rape in American prisons: I was watching this very late night TV show called "Comics Unleashed on CBS," (generally very funny and "edgy") but then I noticed the host of the show had opened up by a making a joke about a man getting raped in jail, and everyone laughed as if it were all really hilarious...
I feel one reason for this is that a lot of people , especially in states like Oklahoma, say, feel that if people land in prison they "get what they deserve" and that getting raped is just part of the package...
It reminds me of the Nixon tapes, where a couple of his aides were terrified of ending up in jail because they assumed they would get raped there. Which means nothing has changed in all these years, it has only gotten worse.
