Post Office

The local Murray Hill Post Office is not very big for the huge volume of mail it handles...

It is pretty much always crowded but the line usually moves a lot faster than it looks like it will.

Cozy Townhouse Cafe

Looks like the snug little Townhouse Cafe on 2nd Avenue is going to keep its minimal holiday lights on all through February..

I hope so, it is cheerful.

That old Corinthian

Always amazed how big the Corinthian Condos tower looms above everything around here...right next to the tunnel approach and St. Vartan's Park.

It was the biggest condo building in the city when it was built back about 35 years ago.

Bike Store Gone

Another neighborhood institution, this bike store on 34th Street is now gone...probably a rise in rent. That is how it usually goes around here.

Souvenirs near Empire State

There are endless amounts of souvenirs near the Empire State Building

Peeking into bathrooms

Actually, this is a showroom on 33rd Street.

Got your attention, though, didn't I?

Doctors and Lawyers etc.

There are a lot of doctors and lawyers offices in Murray Hill...this from 15 Park Avenue.

Went to the GI Clinic at NY Presbterian Weill Cornell today and was told I did not need a colonoscopy right now.

Just thought I would share that with you.

Tree Still Standing

Looks like it is going to be a while before this Midtown reminder of Christmas comes down...

Lincoln Building

Hard to get a good shot of the Lincoln Building on 42nd Street, one of those very tall buildings finished during the depression...

Upper floors are supposed to have all sorts of fancy dining rooms etc.

Peacock

Ah, the male peacock on Second Avenue...

Ornate doorway

Just more of the ornate stonework you see all over Murray Hill

Murray Hill has a lot of European influence as you can see

Tourist bus at Empire State

Sunny and milder, great day for a tour bus ride on a quiet Sunday in Midtown

Sunday outdoor market

Outdoor market thrives on sunny Sunday with lots of fresh fruit and veg, and an array of pickles..

Hair Club

Never noticed this place before...This is in kind of a Yuppie neighborhood and a lot of young men are of course preocuppied with premature baldness.

33rd Street Lexington Avenue Subway ( "IRT")

A lot of the country is still digging out...

Life seems so listless in the cold rain today.

Cold Rain

Snow has been succeeded by cold rain, with freezing rain tonight...

Sort of grim day doesn't stop group of teenage boys from hanging out in the rain on 33rd Street.

Garbage in Shade and Snow

Wow, is it going to take a long time to get all this stacked up garbage picked up...

Good thing it is wintertime/freezing and no flies or smells particularly

More ice and snow on Saturday which will slow collections down even more

Hair salon- 34th Street

The inquisitive lens of Midtown blogger peeps into this upscale hair salon on 34th Street...

Guy & Gallard

Guy and Gallard is a local Starbucks-like place, except I think nicer than Starbuck's..

Have only seen them in this neighborhood! Will have to google them to see where else they are.

Very inviting place on a freezing if sunny winter day.

New Building- Shoehorning in

This small corner lot doesn't look big enough for the poster picture building to fit in there...

As I have noted, building keeps going on here all the time despite the down economy.

Astro Gems and Minerals has all types of displays, from the very traditional to the more far out, as you can see here....
