!['NYPD Cops Deliver Baby On FDR Drive
NYPD Highway and Emergency Service Unit officers helped deliver a baby in rush hour traffic Tuesday morning inside a car on the FDR Drive. Highway Unit Detective Michael Sharpe was on his way to traffic court when he heard a call over his radio that a woman was in labor on the busy highway “right now.” Detective Sharpe could not locate the vehicle in the area that was dispatched to him so he continued to search the highway. As the detective drove north he found the vehicle parked on the shoulder of the FDR Drive near the 47th Street exit.
Detective Sharpe opened the door to the car and knew it was time to get to the hospital, but the baby wasn’t going to wait. Detective Sharpe helped the woman give birth as Highway Police Officers, Kevin Moran and Frank Denicola arrived to assist, and Emergency Service Detectives Joe Conway and Robert Mirfield cleared the seven pound six ounce baby's airway. The mom and baby are being cared for at @[136660929690818:274:NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital].
Join us in congratulating the parents of baby Nicola and saying good job to all the officers.'](https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-0/s160x160/12631554_962748223801960_7834349379891161668_n.jpg?oh=1cb96c70f223b1634c51b2dc8132d8bb&oe=57276A53)
