Review from Maria T.
Manhattan, NYI had a reasonably good experience. This place is a bit pricey (because it's in midtown Manhattan, but not unusually so for the area), so I went here because of the yelp deal. Unfortunately, the manager was away, and the staff didn't know how to deal with the offer. They went out of their way to try to help, even calling the manager in a different state twice to ask questions, and in the end, were able to ensure I used the deal.
The service in general was unexpected amazing, with servers being very friendly, answering all my questions, and going out of their way to meet my needs such as ensuring that I could get seated or ensuring that they could honor yelp deals even if the manager was not available. As for the food, it wasn't bad. The fries were fantastic, but my burger was a bit well done for my taste. Also, they have draft cider. This is definitely not a bad place to visit if you're in the area and want something reasonably casual.Comment from Amber R. of The Carriage House 7/30/2013Maria, We are so happy you enjoyed your visit to The… More » -

I've come here a couple times with my trainer after working out at Strive down the street...just because it was there and we wanted to grab a drink close by. There's nothing stand-out; Midtown East is a weird, non-descript pub-type area, and that's exactly what the Carriage House is.
We like it because the bartenders are friendly, the mixed drinks are strong, and they make a delicious, gigantic turkey burger that we split (it takes them 20 minutes to make but it's worth it) with sweet potato fries. On a low-key night for us it comes out to under $25pp.
The crowd can get kind of rowdy, depending on the night. Sometimes there are kickball or rugby teams that stop by to play darts or watch the game, but mostly it's suits and randos. -

Midtown East, Manhattan, NYcame on a sunday for dinner at 6. service was incredibly slow, since the waiter was also the host and the bartender. started by telling us the free draft with check in was no longer being accepted (in which case it should no longer be on Yelp). Food was three star, beer came in a cracked glass. live nearby, used the $10 for $20 deal, and still don't think I'll ever come back -

Phoenix, AZThis place is a hidden gem! My Fiance & I wandered in here walking the streets of NYC one day, The food was great & very afforable. I was loving the music they were playing, great mix of 90's, alternative, and classic rock. The atmosphere was so relaxing. Our server was also the bartender, who took excellent care of us and the whole bar! We will deff. be returning here!!Comment from Amber R. of The Carriage House 7/10/2013Come visit us again soon!!! Manhattan, NYMy friend and I stopped into The Carriage House to grab a drink since there's virtually no where else in the area to go grab a drink besides loud, underage college bars. It was just OK to say the least. Our waitress was sassy and the food was alright - I ordered a quesadilla and my friend had the fried shrimp basket. What made the trip worthwhile was the yelp deal: when you check in for the first time, you get a free draft beer. Also, my friend and I split the check after she purchased the $10 for $20 deal. -

New York, NYI've been here twice now. Bartenders are attentive and prices of drinks are reasonable. I have not tried the food.
The two stars are for their games ... Apparently the pinball and pool tables only take dollars, even though the prices are in quarter increments (just sayin') -

Christmas shopping dinner at this pub. Food was ok, service was ok. They brought our app after our entrees...
Nothing spectacular, but a decent pub. -

ASTORIA, NYA goto happy hour spot for Bloomberg employees, Carriage House is usually filled with a mixed crowd of midtown regulars in dress shirts on weekdays. You'll most likely be served by energetic ladies with Irish accents that will mock you and your friends if you can decide on a beer - or worse if you can't finish a shot. Buybacks are common after a couple drinks and if you are a regular surprise whiskeys, too.
Amenities include darts, pool, booths, and 2 big group tables (one up front at the window and one in the back at the pool table).
A little on the pricey side for the fare but the apps are good, beer is poured to the top, and they serve picklebacks. I'm a fan. -

New York, NYWow. I liked the Carriage House until the doorman was completely rude to my friend.
She's underage. I'm not. We told this to the doorman from the get-go. No bullshit on our end. She couldn't come in, so she stayed by the door.
I went to the bar to greet my friends quickly before we left (after giving him my ID a second time...).
But apparently.. The doorman made my friend wait outside. In the rain. Like a dog.
She wasn't trying to pull a fast one. She was trying to stay warm and dry, you pretentious prick.
What kind of place is this? I was shocked. Do they do that to tourists who want to come in for a moment to check a map? Is this dinky pub really THAT exclusive that they have to get rid of the poor little urchins off the street? I must have left my suit at home.
I have never been so insulted than by this rude doorman's behavior towards my guest of the evening, who wasn't even staying more than 5 minutes. -

Brooklyn, NYOh, it's exactly adequate. I mean, it's fine. If you need beverages they sell them. They were nice even though I guess we kinda stole these people's booth. There's darts and pool. and a nice amount of space. I went through a period of drinking sloe gin fizzes there when Dinkins was the mayor. There was no good reason for that beverage choice. It wasn't the bar's fault. I guess we used to go there after Rocky Horror when it was at the theater on Third Ave. -

Here's what I like about The Carriage House:
-Men in Power Suits
-People who are obviously taking extended lunch breaks because they don't want to be at work
-Good service
-Irish accents
-Beer
-Frozen drinks aka a little mar-ga-rita!
-Chicken Fingers
-Fries
-Beef Nachos
-TVs
-Free Wi-Fi
-Space
-Lunch specials
-It's far enough from work and an unlikely choice that I won't bump into any of my coworkers
Here's what I don't like about The Carriage House:
-(no hate for The Carriage House!)
Carriage House isn't 5 stars but it ain't that bad either. It's such a laid back bar and people are really there just hanging out and relaxing. No snobs, no frat boys, no bad attitudes and no lushes. It's like a secret getaway with drinks and food that is not healthy at all. Leave your woes at the office and pick up a mini break at The Carriage House. +1 for Midtown East. -

Corpus Christi, TXWe came into Carriage house with expectation of sit down dinner (from pictures), but pictures were a little deceiving. The place is long and narrow with a large bar taking up over 70% of the area. Reminded me of a small TGIF's. The waitress was very helpful and nice (we had a party of 9) and sat near the back close to the Bathroooms and pool table.
The food is very average and fried. This place is simply a bar with 'bar food' quality. Lots of fried, fast type food , but took unusually long to get to the table (about 30-35 minutes) for our party of 9. The prices were a little high considering everything was bar food. -

Brooklyn, NYGreat dive bar hidden amongst the 59th st/ Bloomingdales shopping mega center. They have a great, long bar and pool table in the back of the room. -

Another stop on our St Pats bar crawl. We had some Wings and fries, I remember they were expensive for wings but can't remember how much. $12?
Beers were $6? Oh dear memory fading.... Must be the 3 stops before this one. This seemed like a great place to come and hang out anytime. Nice bar and booths up front with additional seating in the back. Looked like a pool table was covered by tarp in the rear. -

Pelham, NYMy football team went here after our game in the late afternoon on Sunday. The bar is sort of dark -- like really dark -- but we sat at the circular booth in the window so it was a non-issue. Maybe because of the hour of the day, there was only one guy working the whole bar so the service took quite a while, even though there weren't many other customers in the place.
Beers and food were decent, though a few of us complained that our drafts were warm (my Magner's cider was room temperature... and it was 85 degrees out). Another person's bud was warm and tasted like the tap was dirty, so he switched to bottled Bud for his second beer.
People who got the seasoned fries were happy with them. I was less pleased with my sweet potato fries. Unlike my Magners, they were cold. I also thought it was weird that they serve food on really thin plastic plates... kind of like the ones you'd bring to a picnic. Like, so flimsy that when you lift the plate it folds with the weight of the food on it.
The place is decorated really strangely, with bizarre colorful psychadelic pictures of fire breathing horses, and rearing steeds in sunset backgrounds.
The waiter/bartender was nice though, if slow, and offered us a round of shots at the end ("something not strong," he clarified), which we declined because we are old losers who don't do shots -- even weak ones -- at 6pm on Sundays. -

Cambridge, MABack when I worked in the area, the Carriage House was one of the handful of places we hit up for drinks after work. It's a chill Irish pub with a good amount of space and a small pool table in the back. The clientele is mostly just happy hour folks during happy hour and if it's not happy hour, prob. just random dudes.
One or more of the female bartenders have Irish accents, which is a plus in my book. -

Brooklyn, NYConsidering this place as my local hood bar, I had yet to walk in until this past weekend. And its a pretty damn good thing I did. Everyone in this bar seemed friendly from patrons - bartenders. Place feels like a go to place for after work with co-workers as I felt that was the case for majority of the crowed. The bar itself looks like your avg. 50's 2nd Ave, or 20/30's 3rd Ave rowdy sports bars but the vibe is definitely not. The Cheers like ambiance just might make it my new drinking spot.
salute
